local inspection firendly for dual sports?

Got the xr250r started and running, and the 650r soon too follow.

Anyone know some local inspection stations to me ( wilmington) that don't hem on the tech spec required?

Bikes both have working horns, headlights, turn signals and a left hand mirror
However bikes must be running to use headlight( turn signals work without it running) might be an issue ,,,, possibly

Only other small hiccup I see is the 250r integrated rear turn signals are white with a tiny yellow tinge
    and the regs say -
" Rear turn signals shall be red or amber mounted on each"

I dont want to ad hoc something as the turnsignals are integrated onto the rear tail flap

Worse comes to worse I will have to just remove the rear light, order soem amber ones and install

any other areas I need to watch out for?

Rear turn signals need to be at least 9" apart.

make sure you have a chain guard as well. Try My Glass in Woburn or Billerica Motorsports

I go to North Reading Motorsports and never had a problem. They're pretty chill there. The headlight thing won't be an issue as there are a lot of bikes that work like that these days. The integrated rear signals might be the only issue you'd have.

There shouldn't be any bikes that only have functioning headlights/taillights when the motor is running... if you see any on the showroom floor they likely have a wiring fault...

He stated headlight, not tail lights. I know my Tuono headlight only turns on after the engine starts, and I know there are many other bikes that work like this.

Yeah, but the key is, the headlight and taillight stay on if you kill the engine. That's the requirement as per DOT.

Not the Aprilia. If I kill the engine with the key on, the headlight shuts off after less than 30 seconds.

Re: local inspection firendly for dual sports?

I'm looking for a friendly inspection station. The HyperMotard has what you could charitably call rear turn signals, I guess, if you're so inclined. What I'm saying is that they're really fucking small and hard to see.

The PO cut the wires to the original turn signals so it's going to be a bit of an operation to get them back together. I'd rather get it inspected now and fix it properly later, if I can.

    Any recommendations?
