    Locking handlebars...

Well there seem to be an issue when I try to lock my handlebars....I turn them to the side, then turn the key all the way into locking position...and when I try to take the key out, it won't. Also, when I turn the key into accessories mode, nothing is happening...aren't the headlights supposed to go "on" or something? NOt that I would ever use it, when I stop the bike, I just turn it off and take the key out. The locking thing is what bothers me the most...

    Re: Locking handlebars...

Sounds like the lock cylinder is binding up. A squirt of lubricant directly into the lock (or spray the key, and then put it in the lock), and a dab of grease on the handlebar lock (it's on the steering stem on my CBR) should help thngs out. As for the ACC switch - turn it here and try the horn and turnsignals. There's a chance the manufacturer could have used a switch from a touring model - so it's an open position.

On some bikes you can get the top and bottom part of the lock spun "Out of sync" so to speak. Sounds like that may be it.

Thank you Sir, I will try WD40 in the lock and see if I can find the other part you're talking about and grease it.

Yup, the EX. Got no problem with the ZX10 besides the fact that I'm still trying to get used to the awful, uncomfortable seating position. That bike was/is barely ridden by my husband, still in showroom condition, so I'm trying to take it out once in a while to make it happy.

    Re: Locking handlebars...

Check the tail light when the key is in accessory. Many bikes leave this on and all other electricals off, so if you are on the side of the road at night you have can be seen but not murder your battery if the bikes not running. (AKA the "don't hit my bike while I water the bushes" setting) or the "It's a good thing I'm not a helicopter pilot" light (ran outta gas)

Fork lock issue... I agree, just wiggle the bars a little while you wiggle your umm...key. usually works for me.

Well, if it's not the issue and you try and fix it, you'll actually get them out of sync. A bit of a catch 22

Try and open the little "door" the key passes through, and peek in and see if everything is lined up. After re-reading your first post I'm not sure if this is the problem after all.
