    **update**Going to look at a yzf600r tonight:Bought it!

What should I look for on that bike to make sure it won't be problematic? I know about the 2nd gear issue with them. I'm also pretty aware of wear and tear and basic mechanics. My father will be coming with me, he's been riding for 35+ years and does all his maintenance and repairs himself. I've looked at some yzf forums and nothing other than the 2nd gear issue seems to pop out.

Wish me luck, I haven't had a bike in 3 seasons and it's killing me! Though I probably won't register it for this year, but I'll be ready for spring. Thanks!

I was thinking that. I'm not going with the 2600 asking price, so He'll have to accept something lower anyway. I'll be there with a truck, ramp, and tie downs. He'll know I'll leave with it as long as we come to an agreement

Re: Going to look at a yzf600r tonight

Took it for a spin and everything looked solid. It's mine! Three seasons of waiting and I can ride again!!!

Sucks that I'm not going to put it on the road till spring

It's super dirty though, the guy lived on a dirt road. Cleaning it will give me something to do in the mean time.

Re: Going to look at a yzf600r tonight

nice looking bike, i loved mine when i had it and it was rock solid. I would invest a couple hundred into the factory quick shift kit (it will avoid the 2nd gear issue).

Great bike, very comfortable, and they run forever. I traded my 04 at 32,000 miles last year and it was still running like brand new! good purchase.

Re: Going to look at a yzf600r tonight

Do you have more information on the "quick shift"? When I rode it, 2nd seemed fine. But it was wet out, the guy lived on a dirt road, it was a steep road, and there were pine needles covering the road. So I couldn't wring it out.

I should have called about insurance before buying it, but I said screw it 'cause I thought it was a good price. Insurance wants nearly what I pay for both cars just for the bike! Come on!

Re: Going to look at a yzf600r tonight

Just updated the title for maybe more hits

I just washed it outside in the 40 degree weather. Fun! I just have to clean and lube the chain, pull the battery, and get some fuel stabilizer in the tank and it's ready for hibernation

I looked around a little, but is it possible to get a single stand that will work on the front and rear wheel? I'm probably going to borrow a friends to get the chain clean, but from what I've seen you need to buy a front or a rear.
