I hate over the top youtube hype... he's so hamming it up for the vid... that said, the Livewire S2 is similar HP, more torque, and was fun as hell.

Wonder if it would last 10 laps (warm up, 8 lap race, cool down) at Loudon at full song?

Kurlon, are you becoming a harley fanboy because of the hooligan bike? LOL. The livewire looks cool, but it must weigh 100 pounds more then the stark.

Joel, I doubt it highly. Running an ebike at full speed sucks down the juice in a hurry!

It'd be fun to find out though.

someone brought a Stark to the last supermoto day at the kart track. He was certainly quick on it but I'm almost certain he didn't ride past lunch.

Hah, if anything I'm converting a bit to a Buell fan boi, but it's kinda a love hate thing, some of Buell's choices are just weird or bad and he wouldn't let go even when clearly demonstrated bad... but some stuff he got soooo right... The Livewire was fun 'cause I got a chance to ride one, I want to try an Energica too. The S2 I think is 400lbs, so more like 120lbs porkier, still lighter than the original Livewire though, and liquid cooled.

    Re: Looking for something....electric

I've decided I am getting a Varg, looked at one in person today at Motorbikes Plus and it's no heavier than my 500 was. Going with an Alpha though I agree with the salesman that 99% of the time I'll likely be set to 50hp or less, I want the option to be there. Looks like my sumo wheels should be an easy swap with the right year KTM spacers, dunno on the brakes though as they are KYB forks with Brembo calipers... YZ or KTM brake mount? Boxshop will happen, Loudon maybe if I think it'll hack it. Not sure my ice wheels will fit, there isn't much room between the tire and swingarm with an 18in knobby... might have to get creative if we ever get ice again. I don't have any spare dirt wheel sets, so whatever I get on it is going to have to cover all knobby duties, is there a strong argument for an 18 vs 19 if expecting trail and MX use, or does it not matter at my shitty pace?

In the mean time, for those that have easy access to 220v as that's the only way to charge them, Motobikes Plus is making KILLER deals on KTM Freerides, FYI.

8 to 10 weeks? Waiting to hear from the dealer to see if one of their inventory orders matches what I want, otherwise will do a custom order.

    Re: Looking for something....electric

I haven't decided, thought I had a spare set of dirt wheels in a 21/19 setup so was going 18, but my memory was faulty so... not sure which is the better choice if it's my only rear for nervous novice MX and slow woods?

    Preference list:
    80hp alpha - must have
145-154lbs suspension setting - must have
    Foot brake - must have
Kickstand - prefer (looks like there is an improved design due in may)
Grey bodywork - pref, not super picky 'cause it's cheap to replace
    Tire size - ???

I was really thinking hard on the rear brake. I think I'd prefer the hand version.

    Re: Looking for something....electric

I think I'd do better with the hand brake simply because I've never really gotten in the habit of using the foot brake, which I really need to do for road racing so... Foot brake to force me to learn. Plus, no confusing a clutch for a rear brake when switching bikes. It's also cheaper to get the foot brake and add hand brake on top of it than it is to start with the hand brake and add the foot setup later.

    Re: Looking for something....electric

I think the 18 rear is more versatile. You will not notice a difference at on on track, but it gives you a lot more sidewall in the woods (rocks)

Is there a possibility of a dual brake lever set up? I'd be afraid of getting used to a hand lever and have it mess up my instincts while roadracing.

    Re: Looking for something....electric

Stark doesn't sell a combo setup, but there are a ton of kits for adding a handbrake to an existing foot brake bike for dual lever duty. You just have to know what bike your rear master matches so you can get the right resi cap replacement assembly.

Poking around, looks like Motorsports Int in Mass has Vargs in stock, unlike my options in NH or CT. Going to stick with the local shop though I think as they'll be my point of contact for warranty/etc, and no sales tax.

I probably won't be pulling any triggers for a couple of years, but I'm STRONGLY leaning towards electric for my next so I can ride in the woods behind my house w/ Oli when he's old enough, so I'm really looking forward to development & reviews from actual users. Doesn't have to be anything super duper capable, but it would be cool if I can ride it with you other dirty hooligans as well.

When I was sniffing the Varg, another guy was there with the same plan as you. He was picking up a KTM branded electric strider, an SX-E 5 and a Freeride E for silent play time with his kids.
