Re: Looking for something....electric
ECR got an ultra bee, and the thing looks like it soars like an eagle, for a $6,500, 3/4 size frame, F-around bike
https://youtu.be/vFs947OEhac
refined, silky smooth, with better throttle mapping than the light bee
I also just watched the Fortnine video on Alta - what a bummer!
the fate was mostly a financing problem from Harley.
Even more crazy, the comments revealed some R&D growing pains too; which is kind of scary. Makes me want to let people own the ultra bee first and thrash it to find any issues before I get one.
Re: Looking for something....electric
Yup, some things have changed, but avoiding the 1st year of a "new" motor vehicle is normally a good rule
Re: Looking for something....electric
Wonder why they didn't go w/ a 21" wheel up front, if it's just because it's not truly a full size bike or what.
I would love something like that in my garage though... I'm a little surprised it's listed at only 6500. I figured it'd be closer to 7.58-ish? Is that just because it's still not quite a full on dirt-bike replacement and still has some Mountainbike DNA or what? Seems pretty capable.
Re: Looking for something....electric
This could find it's way into my garage.
Re: Looking for something....electric
Pete - they’re making a Storm Bee too. Full size, 21/18…but it’s way heavier and described to handle like a DRZ400

Nahhhh, no thanks. Lost me there. :lmao:
Re: Looking for something....electric
scratch that description: it doesn't "handle" per say like a 39hp, 322lb DRZ400
it has plenty more power, and is 290lbs, and it just "feels like a dualsport"
you can see it for yourself
https://youtu.be/31MMQbWnf50
not sure if this meets your application; and maybe bigger is what you want
but for my application (20 mins of fire road, short single tracks, close to home riding), I don't need the long legs. To me that's dino oil duty.
Re: Looking for something....electric
Re: Looking for something....electric
That looks like so much damn fun.

Re: Looking for something....electric

19 miles on MX track
26 miles on single track
46 miles on Eco mode on a flat dirt road
So uh…truck it from home to your dirt spot
Re: Looking for something....electric
26 miles on single track. That will complete one loop of my home trails. Having a second battery at home would allow a full day of riding. It's not going to replace a gas bike any time soon.

Wasn't sure whether to post this in the bicycle thread or this one...
But I think I am planning on getting this guy in gravel trim. They did a great job hiding the battery and making it look like a regular bike. No drive train to maintain with belt drive and a range good for commuting.

Re: Looking for something....electric
hell to the F, yeah
that thing performs! glad to see the aftermarket pushing the limit of you can do with these platforms to make them capable; hoping there is a lot that unlocks with the ultra bee when it comes out. I'm a little weary about raising the rear/front and offsetting its geometry to make it "better", but regardless, sending it in faster sandy whoops section is impressive.
you thinking light bee X now Oreo?
Re: Looking for something....electric
I'm not thinking of anything until I actually have something that resembles expendable funds and honestly that probably won't be for a least a couple more years. I just think these things are cool and like to see development in this category of bikes.
Re: Looking for something....electric
good look at a close to production version, details on parts, etc... 60 or 80 HP(for $1k extra:eek:) versions @ 242Lbs :shredder:

same price as that hopped up SurRon
Re: Looking for something....electric
I bet that thing's gonna be a banger, I'd just feel weird about buying a dirtbike from a guy in a turtleneck & a sportcoat. Put on a damn t-shirt! :lmao:

Re: Looking for something....electric
It’s like the Hayabusa’s, CR500’s and modern 450’s of the day.
It’s way more power than us fat unskilled F’s can use on dirt without an early trip to a casket
But if you wanna flex on the gas 450’s as the Brian Spilner at your first lineup against Toretto, this is the way.
Re: Looking for something....electric
So KO Moto finally came out with an iOS app to update and tweak their controller with an iPhone, sooo much better! It makes the stock SurRon seem so slow and incapable in comparison to how it is now. Eventually I would like to upgrade the battery and motor as well, but holy shit this stuff isn't cheap! I did however bypass the stock battery BMS to get a bit extra out of it without going overboard and that certainly helps so long as you don't push those settings too high. I gotta say, I'm loving this thing! I never would have thought an electric bike would be so much fun, and capable.

I think I posted in this thread I bought 2 Ride1Up 700 series for myself and the lady. I have almost 600 miles on mine and enjoy the heck out of it for commuting and around town errands. I really like that gravel bike but really need to cut down on the volume of 2 wheeled vehicles in the garage haha
Re: Looking for something....electric
