Honda's new Motocompacto scooter is the spiritual successor to the 1980s Motocompo
It offers 12 miles of range and folds to the size of a briefcase

Can you charge it at work?

Yes. I think I'll get one when they're available. I mean worst case, I lose a few hundred bucks selling it.
A little foldable electric scooter makes so much more sense, but this thing just speaks to me.

You’re such a dork
I am guessing the idea of compact portable Transportation that stows nicely at work, indoors as it doesn’t have any stinky flammable gas parts is your appeal
To me it’s like using a monkey/grom as a commuter when a DL650 would do it better
But why not a proper electric assist commuter bicycle? Can’t stop at work?

I haven’t found the e-bike that speaks to me. They also take up more space in an apartment that already has way to many bikes.
Thought I wanted a van moof, then test rode one….then they went under.

Hmm, then in a narrow focused kind of way, you’re the ideal buyer for the motocompo.![]()

This is what I don’t want to do:
This is the modification rabbit hole that eats up your wallet
$5k for a battery? Yuck!
And it’s way more power than you’ll ever need…race mode 3 wide open just spins. Race mode 1 is more than enough for recreational trail riding
But it turns 25 miles of hard trail riding into 35-40 miles.
For reference, my buddy got 40 miles at Kennedy Meadows (the best SoCal mountainsingle track) on his stock battery/controller; so this would make him 55 miles. Dude rides like an animal; and I’ve seen him wheelie 2 up on a 701 in the desert. There’s now way I’d ride as hard as him so I’m thinking I will be fine on stock

No idea to any of those questions, other than top speed of 15mph....which is a bummer. I feel like theres gotta be a way to hack it though with a bigger battery/motor?

i like the concept for around town and short commutes...it would be better if they could make it roll like a piece of luggage...i liked the sondors metacycle when the design was easily being able to pull the battery and bring it inside with you to charge...when that changed along with all the other specs i passed...it would be a nice option for the summer but i would need something that can handle highway speeds and 90+ miles round trip (in case of emergency and not having time to charge)
490 watts of peak output? I imagine climbing those hills will be very slow as well.
I was going to say, a folding standing scooter seems much more logical than the Motocompacto. The Segway I use for the track is rated at 28 miles range, goes nearly 20mph, weighs less, compacts better, and costs less. I think it even has regen braking, too.
