Weighing the pros and cons of dumping any more $ into the can-o-tuna. Leads on an upgrade bike in the $3-4,000 range if I do decide to go this route? Yes, I'm browsing CL, but people on here are better

Looking at bikes in the 2000 or newer year, gixxer 600/750, CBR RR, or R6...

This is the same bike I ride. I upgraded to it from a 250 and I absolutely love it. Its got 10k on it already. I'd highly recommend checking it out. The more upright riding position and handlebars will be similar to your current bike, but its quite a bit lighter and more nimble.
