    Lost key... $55

$55 to make a new key from my ignition. Reasonable? Thats pulling the ignition and bringing it to a local locksmith.

Sounds about right. Last time I asked about getting a key made it was gonna be about double that, but they were going to come to me so a bunch of that was travel charges

I called one mobile van service who quoted me "a $29 service charge to go out there, plus the key". How much for the key? $180. I hung up.

yeh thats not too bad, we usually get around 40 for a pulled ignition brought into us.

yeh gotta be wary of the "$29 service call" then they show up and everything they do is an addition on top of that, usually amounting to a silly amount more. Those people dominate the phonebooks around here.

    pretty good video:

you got that right, aftermarket wont catch up with those for a few years, so some are still a dealer only key, and they get ya good. While I may not be able to program all of the blanks, there is a good chance i can get em cheaper than what you would pay at the dealer, might not save a ton, but its worth a shot.

I know that the old GM keys (mostly Caddies) was not really a chip but a resistor. You could clip a wire down the harness where it is exposed outside the steering column and install a resistor. Then buy a ignition switch and install it. Those keys were not really very smart.

yeh for what it was tho back in the 80s/90s it was still some form of anti-theft. Obviously extremely outdated by today's standards.

we broke the head off one of the keys for our Honda Odyssey - it's a 2011 Touring Elite. Would you have that one? I'd like to replace the broken one and get a spare.

i dont stock many of them as there is just too much inventory out there. I will look into it tomorrow. What do you have for buttons on the key (if any)?
