i have an 04 buell xb12s and i just lost my only key. i'm totally f@cked!! any advise??

You could remove the lock assembly and disassemble it. Remove the tumblers and use a blank Buell key. Not the best.
Or
You could remove the lock assembly and disassemble it. Noting where the tumblers are you could CUT (not copy) a new key. It does take a special tool.
Or
You could buy a lock assembly with a key from Buell

Call up a locksmith first. If they can't help you, dealer. Manufactures have different methods of keeping a "key code". Some dealers keep it in your paperwork. Sometimes its on a tag that comes with the master key, and sometimes there is a string of numbers punched into the side of the ignition that you can see once you pull it. On my fzr I just had to pull the ignition and bring it to a locksmith and I had a new key the next morning.

I think I'll call locksmith and dealer to see what they can do first. just bought the bike. Already ordered 2 blank keys for it. But lost the only key.

A related story here. A friend was visiting some relatives up here in Massachusetts. He was from Florida. He locked the keys in the car trunk. He gave me a call. I had his wife send up a picture of her key and we got a blank at the hardware store. I cut (not copied) him a new key with the blank.

I have a 3 key policy

#1 key gets taped to the vehicle paperwork and resides in a file

#2 key goes on my key ring attached to a chain the other end attached to my wallet.

#3 key is copy and is key that gets used regularly
