    Glove recommendations

Well figured I'd ask you guys I'm get the gear together for the upcoming season. Got my new Cortech GX 2 jacket. Very cool and comfy if I do say so myself. Now trying to figure out what I want for gloves. So figured I'd ask the experts. Can't spend a whole lotta money but want something decent and will work through most weather. While I'm at it any recommendations on riding pants as well?

I really like my Held Phantoms. They are not cheap new, I got a great deal on them used from a buddy and fellow forum member. I'd much rather have high quality used gloves than cheap new ones... I've heard entirely too many horror stories of cheap glove failures.

I'm a Rev'it whore and love my GT corse gloves and even more so my Jerez gloves, granted not cheap but Rev'it makes a bunch of different lines.

Liar. You don't like those gloves. You tried leaving them in my garage after a race weekend for chrystsakes.

I was just so overwhelmed with the awesomeness that is racing an EX500 that I was in a trance over the fact that Jesus would give us such a majestic racing machine.

    Re: Glove recommendations

I have about a season and a half on a pair of Held Thrux. They fit nicely on my big mits and have held up very well. I have not crash tested them yet but they seem to have a decent amount of protection for the money. I have a cheap pair of Cortech gloves that I picked up out of the bargain bin and they feel like shit compared to the Helds.

I had a hard time spending the 150 clams on the Helds but after riding in lesser gloves I can't imagine wearing cheap gloves again.

When you think about about it. After your eyes your hands are your most important part of your body. They deserve to be protected as best you can.

FWIW, my Helds have been crash tested extensively. They're a bunch of years old, the previous owner crash tested them however many times, and I've tested them a few times myself as well. They're still in good shape and I still trust them.

I have the Icon Merc Gauntlet glove. They are carried by parts unlimited and cost a cool $100 new. I have crashed more than 4 times with these gloves and the wear is minimal and all seams are intact. Here is what they look like...

    held phantoms

my old helds lasted 7 seasons

before helds i bought more than one expensive set of gloves that i was lucky if they would last a season.

i expect to get another 6 seasons out of my new helds and they've already slid close to 80' on pavement

    Re: Glove recommendations

I'd say splurge on the gloves. $ might be tight, but if you've never bashed a hand up good enough to render it useless, you have no idea just how much you rely on them. Kinda like your head, you have to have good cranium apparatus, same with the hands.

Alpinestars GP Tech for me. But anything with hard armor, kevlar and kangaroo hide (really soft, doesn't rot like cow leather after getting wet).

I've been looking at the cortech adrenaline's and glad to see they got quite a few votes. Since I got the cortech jacket of course started looking at what cortech had to match for gloves.

I'm a Held fan as well, after sliding down I95 at 40mph for a while. These are Held Steves, more of a touring than racing glove.

Held Titans - when you absolutely, positively cannot stand the potential embarasment of seeing the same hand surgeon a second time for the same reason.

Comfy glove, crash tested no ill effects even to my bad hand. I will have a new pair when I return to racing.
