    take a look!

    Sweet!

Well on my old ('98 model) ZX6R there was a sticker that came on the bike saying not to exceed 4k rpm for the first 600 miles and not to top 6k rpm until 1000 miles. It is really hard to do. 600s are born to rev.

EDIT: time for a new avatar

    take a look!

Keep in mind that all mfr's have different guidelines. For example, my new bike's owners manual suggests not revving the engine over 4k rpm for the first 300 or 400 miles. That's the extent of the rpm guidelines outlined in the break in procedure. It's funny that my old 600s had recommendations not to exceed 4k rpm for the first 600 miles when 4k rpm for those engines would seemingly be a lot less stressful than 4k rpms for a liter v-twin. 600s redline at 14+k rpm now. My bike redlines at 9500. Oh, and FWIW my break in procedure consists of varying the revs and letting the bike heat up and cool down fully. A good rip up the rev range once in a while is not going to hurt the bike, even during the 'break-in' phase. Don't forget the first oil change at 600 miles, though. I have also found great discrepancies in what dealers charge for the first service. You might want to place a few phone calls. Enjoy the 636!

    thanks Jason.

there has been a lot of discussion on the topic. ill go by what the pro, given by Degsy, say and if i rev it higher by accident i won't worry about it. i can handle the oil change.

Don't be so hard on your self........if you took hours deciding on a color and then left without buying anything...... well that would be another story.

Well hopefully the shoulder will get better.....good new that it's not keeping your from ridding.

What was your first choice? Not that the ZX6R is anything but a great bike, but I was just wondering....

i still like the 600rr. it's not much different in terms of pricing. the salesman made it so easy and i say ok. didn't shop around at all. i just stopby to check out a helmet really and walk out w/ a sign title and everything.

$500 more!!!!!!!!!!!!! Should have done it bud. WAY more adjustable than that 636. 5hp isn't gonna make a big difference. You bought a SWEET bike though.

Might want to cross check that break in advice with the owners manual. It should have come with the bike and the title(under the seat?).
Might have a handy page on adjusting suspension and tire pressure, as well as valve service intervals.........you get the idea.

Every bike is a little different, that's why they come with a manual.

    Oh nice bike, congrats--ride safe.

I thought the only adjustment difference was that the 6RR had an adjustable swingarm pivot? As for the engine, sure, 5hp isn't much but they shortened the stroke and boosted up the compression on the RR to get it within 5; everything I've heard about the two suggests that the 6R has a much nicer, smoother powerband for the street.

yea i know, way more adjustable and has some race parts. im not a gear head really and dont think ill see the track any time soon. i like the idea of more adjustable but i think this case more is less for me.
