    No boner.

Annual event put on by the Yankee Beamers club. I work with and have exceeded posted limits with the president. Wake up Saturday, ride VT and western MA all day. BBQ chicken dinner with pie from the local FD. Some music. Some beers. Mostly old white men. Some of them can ride. Few odd balls. Poop in a portapoty. Sleep in the field. Wake up Sunday, pack up and hoof it home via whatever route you can dream up. Really not a bad way to spend a weekend.

So is it in heath? Likely the same thing, by your description.
I've met this coworker of yours, I think.
I aspire to be an old white dude doing exactly that with my time some day. A ride here, some dirt there, BBQ, bullshittin', more motorbikes...

I was just going to confirm this..
I ran into the woman I bought my...errr...my wife's scooter from and she mentioned mini-me and superdave were off for a quick overnighter to heath.
The best part, in her telling the story, is her calling her special man friend mini-me's puppy dog. She knows it, we all know it, and that's apparently cool with her.
    Go get em, boys.

Still extremely happy with my Super Adventure. About to break 16k miles and it's still a monster machine on and off road. Did 400 miles on the PDR on Saturday and it was fantastic in the pouring rain up some pretty gnarly rutted washed out section. The traction handled a little slip and slide in some slick mud a few times, and rear ABS was great power sliding through some tight corners later in the day.

First valve check (in 2k miles) has me a bit worried for cost, but you gotta pay to play with boutique brands.

My concern with the big, luxo ADV'ers is relatively poor weather & wind protection.

Just do it yourself. Great way to get to know your riding partner inside and out.

I'll do subsequent valve checks, but I'd like to keep maintenance records on file until my warranty is up.

I was pleasantly surprised with mine in the rain. Not perfect of course, but with the windshield raised and the hand guards blocking my forearms the only thing that seems to get damp are my shoulders. I considered it acceptable given the amount of time I ride in poor weather (not much).

I spent a long day in rain over the northern coast of Lake Superior on my VFR1200X, wearing a 5 year old Olympia Airglide jacket and pants with the liner. No real problems keeping dry enough to keep riding.

How's the buffeting? One problem with my 'strom I've never been able to solve at speeds >65 is buffeting. Most ADV'ers I've ridden have been the same. Seems legit considering the smaller screen/lack of side fairings.

The Gold Wing and Road Kings I've sampled exhibited zero buffeting. FJR was a close 2nd.
With the Multi I was too distracted by the screaming V-twin between my legs and speed at which the corners came to notice.

    Re: Luxo sport tourers

I wouldn't say the screen buffets on a Super Adventure. I've experienced truly bad buffeting on my mom's V-Strom 650, and it was like a hammer-drill to the forehead.

The Super Adventure by comparison is much more tame, it does have a bit of turbulence (as a 6'1" dude) in the helmet area, but my eyeballs have never vibrated like they have on other adventure style bikes. You can tune the windshield though, it has 2 levels of adjustment, the first being the hand adjuster which moves the screen up and down (by about 2"), the 2nd of which is the ability to flip the mounting brackets to raise or lower the screen. Total adjustment range is about 4".

As a taller person, I also mounted an MRA X-Creen spoiler to the top of my windshield. With the shield at the highest setting and the spoiler, I had a nice quiet pocket of air all the way down to NC on my trip earlier this year, and I was still just barely looking over the top, not through.

    Re: Luxo sport tourers

Yea my Multi isn't bad in that regard either. I definitely get some buffeting at higher speeds but I'm a tall guy as well and usually leave the screen in the lowest setting. With it all the way up and a slight slouch I can get into "the pocket" easily, so with a taller screen (or a spoiler) it could be addressed if I were so inclined.

The adjustable height windscreen send air over my helmet at the highest setting. A bit lower and I get airflow into the top vent to keep throngs a bit cooler.

I was just on the highway on my Wee an hour ago doing 75-80, no buffetting at all. Stock, the thing was a nightmare.

Givi windscreen, Madstad on the high setting.

I have an aftermarket screen too.. and the Madstad. Does help, but not the difference you report.
Problem is this bit is just too subjective.

    Re: Luxo sport tourers

Buffeting seems to be a highly individual issue depending on height. I know on the Tiger 1050 one of the biggest complaints people have is buffeting and I've never even noticed it with either the stock screen or touring screen. I seem to be just the right height.

Def matters in regard to weight, height, seating position, slouch, handlebar height/angle, etc.

I still think the FJR is your golden ticket.

The California Scientific windshield solves the problem completely. You could probably add a NACA duct to any other windshield, with care.

Cracked two of those on the Tiger before going Madstad. Calsci and high speed/rough roads don't play well together.

My windshield came with a "NACA duct" (they call it a venturi port) and it still produces a bit of turbulence.

Most people seem to recommend Madstad screens as the be-all end-all solution. They're ugly as all hell but they supposedly work.

The Madstad is the best way to spend a few hundred $ and make your bike look just awful. I'm glad I haven't had any issues with my stock screen.
