MA Insurance - Helmets covered?

Are helmets covered by MA insurance?

A buddy low-sided his K1200S last weekend after he hit some wet leaves.

The insurance appraiser that looked at his bike claims that helmets (and ATGATT) are not covered under MA insurance policy.

Is this a fact?

Sometimes.
Depends on the company and the adjuster.
I always wanted to pay for them, but my boss was strict by the Mass auto policy, saying that we only cover the vehicle and it's parts. But it's illegal to ride without one in Mass. was always my counter argument.
Always bothered me that we would pay for a new babyseat in a car, but not a helmet.

When I spoke with the company they said to just send them an invoice for a replacement.

Otherwise I would not have an $800 top shelf helmet

it depends on ur insurance company....mine prior company did not......but my new one does....check out safety insurance im wickd happy with their service

my company gave me $300 for my arai....

commerce wouldn't cover mine, if there is some else found at fault for the accident I have been able to claim it under their insurance.

Although the insurance appraiser (the guy that came out to look at my friend's bike) said the helmet wasn't covered, the nice customer service person that he is dealing with "back at the home office" said they'll cut a check immediately for the helmet once they get a receipt. ATGATT is not covered.

The insurance Co. is Liberty Mutual.
