so... I hate a messy tail. and nothing is better on a sport or sporty naked than an integrated brake / turn signal light. and I've now modified my 2017 1290r super duke with a customleds integrated light. the question is whether or not I'll fail next years safety inspection.
I'd appreciate any experience by those who've also made there bikes sleek and sexy and passed the annual MA inspection.
it also turns out, I plan to put a complete exhaust on the bike. the exhaust will absolutely be louder... how sensitive are the MA inspectors to such modifications?
also appreciate any other mod areas that might be sensitive in mass...
Your probably screwed if they keep the new system in place... Which they will even though its broken.
Basically the law states that the...
-Headlight
-blinkers
-platelight
-muffler
ALL have the be DOT compliant.
If they're not then they can 1. fail your inspection 2. or get a ticket for them.
DOT lights can be seen from over 100 feet away in the afternoon.
I do not believe LED's are bright enough for this as I got pulled over and ticketed for not having DOT lighting and I had to make it all DOT compliant to fight the ticket and win.
You can put DOT compliant blinkers and plate lights that are nice to make a tidy tail but it's more expensive for DOT lighting in my experience.
How hard is it to revert the tail back to stock so that you can pass the inspection?

Holy shit. Where in mass are you guys. Most places around the Springfield area will pass almost anything. As long as there bright and not and inch apart.

the superduke R is a sex machine regardless of tail config or exhaust loudness. put it back to stock and avoid the hassle you will almost certainly experience with the additional bling.

So glad we don't have to deal with inspection bs in CT (knock on wood)
That being said, I prefer stock pipes on my bikes to not annoy my neighbors, and I usually add extra lighting for safety's sake.
