Mass RMV issues with untitled Maine motorcycle.

Looking to buy a used bike from Maine and register it here. From what I found motorcycles less than 300cc have no title in Maine. Anyone have experience with this?

Ya just need previous street registration from ME and bill of sale with you when you go to get your RMV-1

Cool so I just need a copy of the previous owner's registration, and bill of sale of course, for the insurance company. After that the Rmv is happy with an Rmv-1 and bill of sale. So I can only assume that I'll be charged a title fee and get one in the mail and all is complete?

You bring the previous reg and bos to the registry. Your insurance company doesnt care about those. Youll need to get an rmv1 form stamped from your insurance company before you can register it however.

Be warned that while the registration process should be cut and dry it may take some time to find a rmv clerk that can really do it. Being as your in medford i think you should be fine but where i live they arent as familiar with the process so i get bounced around abit.

That used to be true (my WR250R and TW200 were purchased in ME ), but I believe the RMV now requires a letter from the Maine DMV on their letterhead stating their policy.

I was able to show a Supervisor their website. Pro tip, if you have troubles, ask for a Supervisor.

I'm sorry, but when the policy is codified in Maine law, you shouldn't need a fucking letterhead embossed note repeating the law.

I did this in NH, as stated I had to get the previous registration as well as bill of sale. They might also ask for the COO.

So that may be a bit from my exp which I posted about

RMV didnt want to title my Maine registered XR250r with a old registartion and Bill of sale
I even had printed out the maine DMV regulations where it stated anything under 300 didnt require a title

even after all this. they wouldn't issue me a title. I thenshowed them a letter that a Maine DMV rep wrote out( that the seller had retrieved from their Maine DMV) reiterating the above 300cc requirement and no title. After that my DMV rep went to the back room and then returned to issue me a title

Kind of random but ever wonder the best days and times to go to the RMV?

Lowest wait seemed to be 10-11 Tuesday so went today to get new Trailer plate. Out of there in 20 minutes.
