    wr250f Input carb rebuild

So I'm cleaning the carb of the 07 wr250f tonight.

Bottom part of the carb where the plug screw resides.
I remove that bottom part off and well next thing I know on my work bench is a little metal pipe.
appears to have fallen out of the carb.

Now looking at the Parts diagram doesnt seem like that pipe is supposed to come out.

Anyone know for sure? assuming its a vent pipe of sorts

here is the diagram. part that fell out is the thin long cylinder on interior of carb running from 11o'clock to 5o'clock

I can put it back in the hole but it just seems like its going to fall out again. worse comes to worse i'll JB weld to make sure is stays in place

I believe that's your overflow tube. If the carb bowl fills too high, it allows the excess to drain vs filling your engine.

    Important piece.

I believe they are almost always pressed in.

No threads, end doesnt look jagged like it broke off. I'll "assume" it was pressed in and tap it in with a good delicate touch to make sure its seated well. i've checked various pics of carbs online cant see one without it being in / pressed in the carb.

I wonder if thats why it wasnt starting because it fell out ? besides the fuel stabiled fuel that put a nice varnish on everthing else.. ? hmm either way it will be hammered in moving fwd.

I would expect the carb to constantly piss fuel without that tube in place. Without it the drain is at the bottom of the bowl instead of near the top. The float valve would always be open trying to fill, float would never.. float.

My fear trying to re-seat would be leaks. If its loose enough to fall out then it is loose enough to either leak or fall out again.

Probably worth a shot though. WTF. It's just a dirt bike. Major downsides include being stranded on trail or dying in a ball of fire.

You could use bearing retainer to help lock it in. Yamaha doesn't list a PN for just the float bowl, looks like about $100 to order by itself new through an Keihin dealer.
