Anyone have thoughts or experience with how closely loud exhausts are policed in Mass? I'm on the south shore and not as familiar with this area as I was with the north shore. Just picked up a 2017 Tuono Factory and contemplating an aftermarket exhaust. The best looking cans on the bike are the shorter stubbies...but they are loud. I've never had any issue before, but these particular cans will likely be louder than anything I've ever run on the street. Thoughts?

My Tuono is loud even stock, surprisingly loud. When I had my RSV4, I put a standard size Graves slip on, and it was stupid load.
Congrats on the new ride, great choice.

My bikes are pretty loud, never had an issue. I'd imagine most bikes end up getting after aftermarket exhausts and are loud, no one really cares unless you become an asshole with them.
Id be more worried about annual inspections if the cans are visibly non stock, especially with the new big brother BS video monitoring all inspections. Ive been hassled at motorcycle inspection on this issue with my SV even before video monitoring started.
Besides, it gets old riding with loud exhaust
^^^This. They are taking annual inspections overly serious now. Instead of just making sure you can stop without the aid of a school bus bumper and have lights to see the school bus, they are going ape shit wild with policing the shit out of vehicle modifications. Maybe it isn't so strict yet with the MC side of things, but with cars the local guys around me have gotten either scared or have gotten religion.

I got pulled over and got a ticket for it, if it doesn't have at DOT approval embossing on it, it's "technically" not legal.. In mass after market exhaust are illegal only if they're not approved by the DOT (same with all lights, they must say DOT approved on the light lens)
here is an example of the light, i couldn't find a picture of it on the exhaust but look at your stock exhaust, you'll see it.
also it's so much better riding without a loud exhaust in my opinion

Thanks for the responses. I'm going with the Akra. I decided that I don't need another reason for cops to pay attention to me on the road. The Akra has good sound and is a nice looking pipe. I'll post pics when I get the bike.

I've ridden some pretty loud bike. Some bordering on obnoxious. Rule #1 don't be an asshole and on the pipe all the time, especially 'in town'
#2 get your sticker at an HD dealership ( they won't care or in some places wont know ) I ride an HD but some douche bags ride with literally straight pipes and get stickers. #3 Don't be an asshole with loud pipes.
