    Michelin Pilot Power 2CT???

Looking to replace the tires on the R6, been looking at the Pilot power 2ct. Best place to pick up a set? would rather do business locally then order off line but also dont want to pay out the @ss.

Side note... does a lowering link and 190 rear equal a higher probability that a squid owned my bike before me???

I myself don't plan on doing track days this year, so I just had a set of Pilot Road 2's installed on my F4i. Got a set for $258 from sportbiketrackgear.com

I had the PP 2cts on right now, i have about 4000 miles on them, they came with the bike. They are pretty good, i didnt look at the tires when i first got them, but i believe they were worn in. I do 85% straight 15% twisties. id rate these tires so far at 8. Mine right now are pretty square but not even at the markers yet. they seems to stick fairly alright but then again these are my first tires, i dont knwo what else to compare them to.

I'm rocking 2ct's on the RC51 right now. 100% street use. ~4000 miles. Great tire in my opinion. I got mine at Seacoast last year when they ran there spring special, $290 mounted/balanced on loose wheels. I would also go to a 180 rear on the R6.

The Pilot Pure is a more advanced tire than the Power One commercial, and less money. And more versatile.

The standard Pilot Power is more tire than 95% of the riders out there can out ride. And cheap.

And if you want the best tire out there, try the Pilot Road 3. Best all around piece of rubber available today.

I just left a bunch at Bettencourt's. Dave has them in stock. And go back to the 180. The bike will handle better.

Nope, wasn't talking about the Power One. I know that tire very well.

The Pilot Road line should be less expensive for you and offer up more milage for your riding. Unless you're pushing it much harder in the turns than last year, they shouldn't give you any issue.

im in Belmont, right on the Cambridge line.

Dan, unfortunately the majority of my riding this year will be in august and sept at the track where these tires will see the most use due to all the stupid crap going on with work and the wedding right now

    Would you recommend the PR3's over the PP2Ct's on say - a GSX-R 1000?

Yeah, i heard the PR3's are boss. IMO, if your going to be doing alot of straight riding, i.e. commuting or interstate, i recommend the metz z6. I had a friend get almost 20k of them o.O

I would. The Power 2CT is old technology. Five years old. The Road 3 just works everywhere. Even in DOT road racing in wet conditions.

As Michelin told us at our meeting, when MotoGP ended for Michelin, those engineers didn't go home and just stare at the wall, they put them to work in the road division. The Pure and the Road 3 are those engineers tires.

Is the standard Power or Power 2CT bad tires? Not at all. This is why they are still made. But if you got the dolla and want the trickest rubber out there - Road 3 is the way to go.

    Re: Michelin Pilot Power 2CT???

    Question for Karaya One....

Just bought a used bike. It has Power Race's on it. It was used at 2 trackdays. The tires have tons of extra rubber picked up from the track on them. I plan on street only, maybe a trackday. I have the orig PP on my other bike and as you can imagine, no extra rubber picked up from trackdays. So, my question is: Are these Power Race's ok for the street till they wear out? Ive only ridden the bike like 20 miles or so since getting it but will they clean up with street use?

    Thanks!

Lot of rider use race tires as street tires. They won't last long but they will work. You'll be lucky to see 1000 miles out of the rear.

Just remember to try and get some heat into them if you are doing cold weather riding, otherwise no grip. But for the summer, they will be fine.

For what it's worth, I have a set of pilot power pures for sale off my rave bike. I literally mounted them last Tuesday, did 10 laps at penguin and 20 laps at my races. Not a great tire to race on IMO. They literally have about 95% left in them. They look brand new minus the gumming off the track. Pm me for info. Oh and I'll mount and balance them for free!

What I like about the 2CT's is the dual compound. Harder in the center for more wear-life and softer on the sides for gripping in the turns.

Road 3 is dual compound as well as is the pure. I have run both with good reviews on both. The pures were my favorite though, the road 3s have served me well so far though, just not as much feel as the pures imo

I've mellowed out a lot. Don't think I'd notice much difference in tires anymore. LOL
