Michelin Pilot Power 3s or other tires

It's time to get tires. My Michelin Pilot Pures are worm pretty good in the center after 6-7000 miles and I won't pass inspection. Looking to get a new set of tires and may be considering Power 3s. Does anyone have experience with these? I know they are new model but looking for any type of feed back.

Also, looking for recommendations of other tires that are similar. I want to try to get close to 10k miles per set of tires.

    Thanks!

I have 16,000+ miles on a set of Michelin Pilot Road 2's and still going. They are more sport-touring oriented than those Power Pures. FWIW, I am considering going to the Power 3 next.

Eh, those "hardness" numbers seem a bit subjective, a 3 in Pures doesn't seem likely to correspond to a 3 in the Road 2's. I've run Road 3's, lasted longer than Pilot Power 2's but not as long as Road 2's. Loved the wet & cold grip on the Road 3's though, sipes rule.

Got to test my PR3's in the rain earlier today. FWIW I found them to be a little better than the Z8's while cornering.

I have the Conti Road Attack 2's. Designed for sport tourers, they lasted a long time on the vs from, 10,000 for,the rear.

Re: Michelin Pilot Power 3s or other tires

I'm curious too. I have Power Pures on my bike and love them. Less rotation mass to comparable tires! Makes a big difference in steering
character! I have ridden so far: PP2s, PP2CTs, Metzler M1 Sportecs... The Pures I liked best for both Street and Track.

Power Pilot 3 is set to replace that I guess. But there is also another new tire called Power SuperSport.
Looks like same compound mix but with less grooved area to the PP3.

In one of the product review videos I saw, they mentioned that the reduced mass tech they used to make the Pilot Power Pure was not used to make the Power 3.

I am cheap so went with Bridgestone BT 023 which when I bought the set saved $70

No chicken strips on VEE Strom looking like they will give me very good mileage as well, yes they have multi compounds

Would you take them to the track?

I was going to go for the '023s this time, but chickened out and stuck with the Michelins.

What kind of tire pressures are you guys running to get 2000 miles?

    I don't do track myself...

During my research there was somebody who had a couple of track days and some miles, still happy

Im at 30front and 33rear on the street. This is with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tires. When I had Michelin Pilot Powers I ran 36-42.....which felt perfect for those tires. Dont know why but these 2 different ultra performamce tires need vastly different pressures to feel like they are at max grip. This is street pressure, not track pressue which I lower quite a bit....

I have power pures on my ducati. I hate them compared to Q2s. You can't beat the q2 for price vs grip.

Re: Michelin Pilot Power 3s or other tires

I just ordered a set of the new bridges ton s20's couldn't beat the price 232 shipped for a set. I was s hairs breadth from ordering the bt023 though. And those may still be my next tires. I have heard pretty good things about the s20 and the 023 though. And the 023 can be had for only 5 dollars more than the s20. Bought them from chaparral.
    Edit
Dude I don't see you getting 10k out of any of the current hyper sport tires on an RC. Frankly I'm amazed you got as much as you did out of the purges but I'd recommend stepping down to a more sport touring selection like the bt023. I also am just personally not a fan of Michelin. I think they are overpriced for what you get. I've had powers and they didn't do anything wrong never slipped but always felt lacking in feel. I've had Dunlop q2s pirelli diablo stradas and bridge stone bt016 currently on my bike. All of those ran less than comparable michelins and I liked a lot better.

Re: Michelin Pilot Power 3s or other tires

I know I'm comparing apples and oranges to some extent, being an 'adventure' styled bike when ya'll are talking about sport stuff. But I like the tip in on the Michelins A LOT more than I did the Bridgestones the bike shipped with. And I'm convinced they are way sticker. But then I went from a 'adventure' type tire to real sport-touring rubber.

But the Michelins have an agressive shape. I like it.

Re: Michelin Pilot Power 3s or other tires

That I will agree with Collins. Michelin deffinately has a more aggressive profile on there tires. My issue with "feel" was that I didn't get a lot of feedback from them. Like I said they never slipped other than in rain. But I never really got the feeling of what they were doing. I just had to trust them. It was ennerving when I pushed them. And as I said I had so many better options for the price.

What bridge stones did your bike come with BTW?

    Trailwings.

Yeah, I know. I should just GTFO.

When I switched I thought I had fubar'ed the mounting or something for a few hundred miles. The bike just falls into corners. As I say, I like it.
