    Montreal Motorcycle Show

Headed up to Montreal today with my friends Jarrel and Laurie to check out the Montreal Motorcycle Show.

    It was crowded. Triumph booth:

Jarrel liked this Yamaha Super Ténéré:

MV Agusta F3 triple -- even more gorgeous bike in person than in pictures:

Spotted this nicely ADVified V-Strom -- really nice spoked wheel conversion:

Continuing the ADV theme, Moto Guzzi Stelvio NTX. This bike is one of the best deals currently available in the ADV segment -- under $16k and comes standard with aluminum luggage, heated grips, fog lights, and 8-gallon tank. A similarly kitted out BMW R1200GSA is around $20k.

No idea about the wheels, but I assume they're a custom job. I was surprised how good they look on the bike, and of course they're also more durable than the stock cast ones for people who intend to take the bike off pavement.

I had a wild thought the other day of trying to find a 2nd set of wheels for the wee to mount more knobby tires on, mostly because I don't have the means to own two bikes. Although the more I read, the more I think owning 2 would be far more cost effective.

I have no business doing that kind of off-roading. ... But this is the kind of crap that happens when I start reading advrider again.

Wheels aren't commercially available...at least from one source. They used multiple companies to try and piece the assemblies together, and it wasn't particularly smooth. You can read about it here: http://old.cmgonline.com/2012/11/pro...-build-part-2/

After all that, they did come out awesome though!

    Re: Montreal Motorcycle Show

the Stelvio would be a real competitor in the adventure bike market is they had a better dealer network

I drove up a few years ago, very cold day, it was probably above zero but barely, parked in a heated garage at the University across the street from the metro station in Longueuil.

strange of prices of things are so much different, helmets are more expensive but leather is cheaper, I got a smokin deal on a pair of summer gauntlet gloves

Unfortunately not. The KTM 1190 Adventure was missing too. The two bikes I most wanted to see...
