    MOSFET type voltage regulator

I have about 1000 miles so far on the MOSFET voltage regulator I upgraded to on my V-strom

with the oem SCR type regulator on my V-strom, voltage fluctuated from 13v-15v depending on how much electrics I had turned on, cooling fins on the regulator got so hot you couldn't touch them

wet the MOSFET regulator, my voltmeter stays consistently at 14.5 and thecooling fins are barely warm to the touch

and it was actually less expensive than the oem

the oem RR for the V-strom is only rated at 30 amps, and the Shindengen MOSFET FH012AA is rated at 50 amps

good to know, seems to be a weak spot on more than a few bikes.

I bought mine online here , and had my dealer install it (along with a new stator)
the service manager and mechanic were so impressed with the unit, they said that is what they are putting in their bikes if and when they have any problems maybe sooner

I have had similar results with swapping in my FH008 R/R. While the amperage is less that the FH012, it is slightly more compact and well suited for my 600 - especially since I don't run additional electronics. The flying leads worked better for mounting in the stock location as well.

Runs very cool and more importantly, it is consistent.
