Austin is a great town for food and music. Very good bike seen also. Tickets for seating are pricey the track sells them on there website. Did GA and walked around. No shade and its hot. Good hiking shoes are a must. Place is hugh.

It was overcast on Saturday for practice, I got a sunburn on my scalp through my hat and hair. So, UV rays is a thing. I never saw the back half of the place, it is a big friggin track. I was smitten with the food and music downtown. I'll think on the other items, not sure right now.

Been to COTA three times for MotoGP... general admission is the way to go, unless you don't like sitting on grass. I've liked turn 1 the best (lots of action, passing-wise, barging-wise and crashing-wise. It's fun watching those bikes come up the hill too at full speed then slow down incredibly fast, and there's a nice big screen right there). If I were to pay for a seat, I'd do turn 12 (where Marc crashed last year). I might go this year again (I tend to go every other year, didn't go last year). As far as food, yeah, what they said!

I went last year. Doesn’t sell out. Get general admission and can get on the bleachers no problem.
Plenty of places to eat good BBQ over there.
I liked Dallas significantly better If you feel like driving.
Air BnB is the way to go. Book in advance. Locals are friendly and they can point you in the right direction for POI

The couple times I've been I bought a package that included the Ducati area. Free swag, some shade, only a couple bucks more. I found General Admission areas great. That said I enjoyed the Practice and Qualifying days more than race day. A few people we met at the track also put in their name for corner worker. One day as a flagger, can't get closer than that. IIRC they were comped some great seats for doing it.

Sister lives in Austin. Been going to the Endurance Le mans races at COTA for years.
You literally can't fuck up the food.

Congress St is the hip and happening place.
Go to Stubbs or the Salt Lick if you want BBQ.
    Trudy's for Tex Mex
    Magnolia Cafe for breakfast/quick lunch

Definitely eat some beef ribs while you're there. Brisket gets all the good press but there is no better BBQ than beef ribs IMO. My favorite spot was the County Line location on Ranch Rd. It's right on the river and they have a kick ass old pit. Rainey St was a great time, old houses converted to restaurants and bars. They all had cool "back yards" that made it seem like hanging out at someone's house more than sitting at a bar. Check out Zilker Park and go for a swim in Barton Springs.

COTA should be interesting this year. They're repaving large portions of the track to get rid of (for now) the problem with all of the bumps. Its going to be a totally different track.

Trudy's is in bankruptcy, I would stay far away given other choices. I cant imagine how quality is suffering right now.
