Motorcycle "gear/parts/accessory" shops

Do they exist in New England?

I had high hopes for MM due to the number of times I see it mentioned on this site. Went down there last week and well, it reminds me of that commercial Chevy had when the Impala was first re-released: "In any color you want, as long as it's black."

Seriously, 1 brand of gloves to choose from that I could see, 2 brands of leather jackets, one of which I have not heard good things about, and the other I hadn't heard of at all. A bunch of semi-sport(?) Dainese boots that look more like galoshes than something safe. More First Gear textile stuff that I care to mention (why is that all I see in shops here?).

Anyone from the CA Bay Area familiar with Zoom Cycles? Looking for something like that. Basically EVERYTHING for motorcycles except the actual bikes themselves under one roof. Gear, tires, fluids, OEM parts, aftermarket parts, literally ANYTHING you might need. In brand names you've heard of (SIDI, A*, etc). Is there anything out here like that?

Ordering online is cool and all, but I hate dealing with the returns when stuff doesn't fit. I'm willing to pay the extra at an actual "in-person" shop for the ability to try different stuff on.

I am from the Bay Area myself (San Anselmo). Nothing I have seen so far here compares to the shops there. I think due to the seasonal aspect. Almost impossible to try some of the major brand stuff on anywhere. It's funny, we were just talking about this the other day. Motomarket is cool, but it's line is very specifically targeted.

Brockton cycle in Brockton, ma. Lots of motorcycle gear. They are also about a mile each way from Dunbar Eurosport and bettencourt's Honda, both of whom have some cycle gear in stock all the time.

In a lot of cases the stuff MM carries is carried because they believe it is the best and/or their customers have backed it up...

The gloves for example... very hard for anyone to argue against Held gloves, which is most of what MM carries.

They do Held, Rev It, Five and a TR line. I just bought a new pair of Held's a few weeks ago. Nice stuff.

You see a lot of First Gear there since they have a great relationship with Tucker Rocky. And more favorable terms than with the Euro brands who want payment within 30 days.

Icon with PU, First Gear with TR and Joe Rocket with Sullivans can all be dated and with very favorable terms, freeing up cash. Plus, TR and Sullivan will rotate product.

The money involved putting a clothing line in can be staggering, and with the on-line stores pimping the same product shops become try-on houses. Not many of my dealers invest in clothing like they used to anymore.

just to add some fairness to my earlier post - if you have a specific item in mind, someone on this board can tell you exactly where to go to see or purchase it. Also, most local outfits will honor any online price too.

Whitehorse Gear from Conway ,nh they are geared more towards the sport touring enthusiast, but have some amazing gadgets and the store is the warehouse so you can browse, try on etc right there.....

the are always expanding their line too....


+1 to brockton cycles, they have had some killer closeout stuff in the past and you just have to be there at the right time...

I've had the same problem with my gear. Seems like everything I buy I need to buy 2 of. That way I can send back the one that doesn't fit. My track pants are a great example. Damn Alpinestars and their wrong size chart.
I too am from Cali, southern cali. I bought my gloves from a store there. It was like walking into a toy store.
60,000 sqft of gear, everything from dirt, street, to jet ski stuff.
40,000 sqft of bikes, quads, and jet skiis
20,000 sqft service dept.

this place had everything under the sun!!!!!
I can't wait to go back over Christmas vacation.

New Enough is pretty at describing sizes for just about everything they sell.

Since every brand runs different, it;s best to get the opinion of someone who knows what they sell.

How is their chart off? Clothing or boots? Stuff is larger or smaller than size chart suggests?

Tell me what happened.

boots are a tad off, I wear 10.5 EEEE new balance, 11 EE Chipawa, 10.5 wide nike, A* is 11.5 and fit puuuurfect

gloves a tad off also I'm a med threw every other manufacturer but large threw A*

Jacket I think is the same but can't remember because the only one I owned is rashed and trashed

i wear a 32 waist. I ordered 34 and there still a tad tight. Boot... wear a 11.5-12. alpinestar size 10.5, jacket same thing. everything seems to run a size or two smaller

Watch out for their gloves esp they run really small, if you wear sm better order the lg.

-1 on Brockton Cycles if you're looking for women's gear. I think they had exactly 2 women's jackets last time I was there.
