Oh and by the way, I fucking hate 98% of bicycles on the road. Theres no reason a bicycle should need more than 2 feet from the right edge of the roadway, either curb, or parked cars.

    Yup.
I'm about as sympathetic as they come, too. I spent many years as a bike messenger, bike mechanic, etc, and the bulk of cyclists I see these days (in the burbs) drive me nuts. Out in Chelmsford, Concord, Carlisle we get packs of bikes... 20 or 30 squirrely, sketchy, unpredictable line-less geeks having a little unsanctioned Giro de Douchebag on public roads. Taking up an entire lane... shoulder to double yellow with all the entitled tough-guy attitude you can imagine. It's ridiculous. I believe Concord, MA has actually had to crack down. It was getting out of control on Lowell Rd.

I ride quitea bit, and if a rider is more than 2 feet from teh right edge of the road it could be because there is shit in the road (glass/sand/nails/holes) that they don't want to be riding in.

I will say though that just like everything else, there are a few bad eggs that make the rest of us look bad.

They love when you split them on a Motard that sounds like the 450 Main at buds creek.

I don't think people realize how hurt a bicyclist can get if someone opens a door in front of them when they're going 15-20mph. Most bicyclists are very respectful, don't take our your frustration with the dumbasses on the rest of us.

He IS a bicyclist. I believe he meant someone threw a door open in his vicinity and he helped them back into the car.

Re: New motorcycle law in boston/mass?

why do they need to ride 2 abreast? why does anybody for that matter? I do agree that you should not "door" a bicycle but I do not think i should have to yield to them. I see this shit on Cape Cod all the time. the ride wherever they want and then scream "share the road" when you finally get by them. Share the road goes both ways! We have miles and miles of dedicated bicycle paths on the cape yet they all seem to love riding on main (double yellow 40+ MPH) roads. the only way to fight this is to change the roads to "limited access" allowing only motorized traffic. if you want to ride a bike in a 25-35MPH area and you stay to the right, more power to you. However i think this is another useless law looking out for a special interest. put this to a statewide vote and see if it would have passed!

Re: New motorcycle law in boston/mass?

Ha .... try driving a delivery truck on Martha's Vineyard in the mid summer ..... most of these baba-ga-douche bicycle renters are touring at < 10 mph on winding 25 - 35 mph roads while cars and other cyclists are traveling in the other direction on the same curve. Most are in Noooooo condition (wayyyyyyyyy fat and mentally checked out while on vacation) to be riding a stationary bike let alone a mobile - pilot controlled apparatus (incldes both bikes and scooters)

most of the douche cyclist up here on the mainland are fine if you give hem a light toot from the horn as you approach .... they sometimes move over to single file.

I guess I am a bit more tolerant of other peoples less invasive persuits as I have some of the loudest and most dangerous of them all ...... and expect to catch crap for my participation. Motorcycling gets more crap thrown it's way for a few douches that are seen / noticed more than the respectful and law abiding riders out there than most except for maybe gun use / ownership.

even in jest, this rings true. there is far less traffic on the sidewalks and the people on it are in a better position to yield. I cannot understand why people choose to dedicate themselves to such an antiquated technology.

No, its not in jest. If you want to ride in the street, you're going to deal with cars. I hate most bicyclists. I despise anyone who walks or runs in the street, especially if they get uppity with me driving within 4 feet of them.
Share the road my ass, cars go on the road. You have a dedicated place to walk, run, or ride, you stay there.
