    Motorcycle shipping ?

I'm buying a used bike that's 1,000 miles away and I'm looking for shipping quotes to get it home.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a shipping company, first hand experience is preferred.
It's obviously a crazy market with everything, I'm just hoping to keep the cost reasonable. Thanks

What's the difference between a bolt and a screw?
First you screw, then you bolt.

    Re: Motorcycle shipping ?

I’m no help regarding the topic you asked about, but details such as the bike model and where it’s located would help my decision on whether to offer to ride it home for the cost of a plane ticket.

MotoShippers. Not sure on their pricing, but they are veteran and moto enthusiast owned/operated.

    Re: Motorcycle shipping ?

I just rented a uhaul and grabbed several bikes off a container in staten island and that was certainly the cheapest way for that. Shipping is crazy now.

Ive used U-ship and had good results.

Montway is who i use if i want no fuss. Just tell them when and where and it will happen.

Seems like a lot of carriers are charging roughly .50 per mile now so use that as a basis.

    Re: Motorcycle shipping ?

Last August I bought a bike in Dallas ,TX. used escrow.com for payment and found a shipper through u-ship. The cost of shipping was $735 and took about a 9 days.

I was nervous about the whole shipping process as soon as they picked up when the seller notified me. Apparently it was a pickup truck towing a enclosed trailer stuffed with 20+ bikes. Each time they have to drop off a bike they have to unload other bikes to get to it. So biked are loaded/unloaded multiple times. To top it off, the seller sent me a photo of the driver's ID and I noticed it wasn't even a driver's license. It was just a state ID. They basically had a 2 man crew driving around the clock making drop offs. One drives the other one sleeps. Ultimately the bike arrived with a small inch long scratch that I didn't bother claiming.

If you want the real pros and can wait a month or more and are reasonably priced look at Haulbikes. They have the most professional personnel and equipment. It just takes a long time as the bikes move between their distribution centers until its gets close enough to make the final trek to your location.

Thanks for the replies. I did receive a few quotes today, $600-$700 range. I haven’t booked it yet, but National Auto shippers seems to have the best reviews of the companies that responded.

This is not a bike that one would want to ride half way across the country, and it’s Italian so it likely wouldn’t make it anyways.

I've had great luck with Uship for many years. Ignore the initial quotes and go with a little guy.

I went with a company called Galaxy Auto transport, $640.00 picked up at a residential address and dropped off at a residential address. There was also an 80lb box of spares included in the shipment.
The bike is being picked up tomorrow morning, and I'll have it either late Tuesday, or first thing Wednesday morning.

It’s not super old, it’s a 2009 and was known to be a bit of a problem child. It’s one of those bikes that will make the average person say WTF were you thinking.
It was picked up today around 11am and is on its way. I’m actually the drivers next stop, so I may have it tomorrow afternoon, or first thing Wednesday morning.

HHhhmmm, even though you don't strike me as "sentimental" with your bikes, I'm thinking it may be something you had before. A troublesome Italian you enjoyed when it was running, that unique mini V-twin exhaust note, light weight, versatile, baddest Supermoto eva.......

But what’s in the 80 lb box of spares? Entire second bike?

    RSV Mille?
