    Motorcycle Shipping Crate

    Hi,

Does anybody here have a sportbike shipping crate they might want to part with? Any ideas where I can get one?

I'm contemplating sea shipping a motorcycle and I was thinking about building my own crate. Any constructive advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

Sweet. Thanks a lot Dave. In case they do not have one: do you by chance know where Scott Mullins dealership is located?

All the places I've worked at just junk the crates usually, so try and make some calls to various dealers.

Thanks a lot Duey. I will certainly go that route if someone here does not already have one they want to part with. Cheers

Scottie's shop is Souhegan Valley Motors in Milford NH. Everyone there is very helpful and will do what they can to help you.

i put 2 bikes into those style crates for the Isle of Mann. They are pretty solid. Interesting how they work.

You could do you part in Global Warming by coming back and burning lots of fossil fuel while racing.

Hey all, turns out, as Dave suggested, Seacoast Sport Cycle did step up and donated me a metal frame. Thank you Dave (for pointing me in the right direction) and Seacoast for donating the frame.

Do yourself a favor and put plywood around and on top of the crate.
I crate an average of 5 bikes a year to send overseas and the shippers can be less than careful with your pride and joy.
Any questions just shoot me a p.m.

    thats not true !
when they drop it , they say sorry !
    sometimes
years ago i helped shipped bigger things ,boats and big toys, most of the time they went into containers, even then, there seemed to be more damage then you would think.

    Re: Motorcycle Shipping Crate

Containered my Ducati over here from Mass - not cheap, but I had it in the same shipment as all my household stuff, so saved a little.
Aside from a single scracth (tiny, on the pannier) from the initial loading, not a single issue.

Now I've got a mountain of paperwork to do so I can ride it!

    Re: Motorcycle Shipping Crate

I finally got around to picking up a crate from Seacoast Cyce and I would like to publicly thank seacoast cycle and Robb for donating one of their Ducati metal crates/frame.

As I understand Seacoast has additional crates so shoot Robb a PM if you need one.

    Re: Motorcycle Shipping Crate

Curious who you end up contacting to ship it?

    And, what kind of prices?

Don't spend too much time on the reply, I'm just filing it away for day dreaming purposes. But maybe a few years down the road, I'd like to ship a bike somewhere far away and fly out to ride it in that region.
