Most people at Deal's Gap have no business being on a motorcycle, nevermind on one of the more challenging roads for being on two wheels.

I guess he got the action shot he was looking for. What do you think his speed was on impact? ~30?

That's interesting. You can actually see the moment where he panics, grabs the brakes and starts to go upright (pic 11).

I am a little disappointed tho. In pic 21 he had a chance at a good dismount.

Is it just me or to the pics from 19 on look 'shopped'? right up through 18 there was a very short interval between shots. There seems to be a gap between 18 and 19.

Still, couldn't be a good day for that chap!

It' looks like in 19 the bag in the vette deployed.
Overall looks like he ran out of lean angle, bumped back up and went for the brakes.

That's a helluva lot of 'shop work. And why 'shop something that seems to happen all the damned time down there?

On my camera the thing will run out of internal buffer after xxx shots and then slow down as the flash card tries to catch up. As buffer space frees up it will start taking photos again. I don't have a clue what happened. But I suggest it's possible the shooters camera did like mine and he filled his buffer and missed a bit of the action because of it.

Good point. Also I think the Guy who's down there taking photos day in and day out isn't going to get the business he wants if he's altering photos.

Re: Be sure and wave to the camera so you look good for the crash

Let me start this off by saying that I do not think that the photographer is in any way responsible for the actions of the motoring public driving by on the road.

I am curious when someone, involved in one of these accidents where they are "distracted" by the photgrapher, is going to try to sue the pants off the photgrapher for negligence. The sad part is that there would likely be either a settlement or a hearing where the photgrapher would be found at least a slight bit negligent in setting up on the side of a public way to take photos to sell to make a profit (albeit a very small profit I would assume, don't think anyone is getting rich off of taking photos at the gap). Hopefully it never comes to that but this is the sue happy world in which we live in.

Re: Be sure and wave to the camera so you look good for the crash

If I were the 'vette owner, I'd be upset, but he probably was not aware of the screwing coming his way at the time these photo's were taken ("It was only hit by a motorcycle. We can fix it..."). By now, his 'vette crab walks down the road like a 70's Nova, the steering wheel is cocked to 1 O'clock, with odd squeaks and creaks at every bump, and the Chinese replacement drivers side headlight is full of water.
Accidents suck, for everybody involved. Be careful out there...

In most cases professional photographers have insurance for exactly this type of thing. Same thing is true for Drs, Architects, Engineers and another of other professions. The insurers will certainly help with these sorts of cases so it is rarely on the photographer alone.

The photographer is a good guy, so there won't be a lawsuit.

Re: Be sure and wave to the camera so you look good for the crash

I give it a 10 for still waving in Photo 22.. Dumb-ass should have be paying attention to the road.

I am sure as shit the Vette owner was bullshit. I would have been.
Why are there no skid marks, did this guy try using his brakes at all? Only skid mark I see is from another incedent, they are certainly not from him braking.. I think if he was a good experienced rider he could have held his lean and made that corner just fine, looks lik ehe target fixates, stands the bike straight up and heads right for the vette.
