How do you guys figure out how much a bike is worth for a private sale? NADA and Kelly Blue Book only list retail and trade in value. The priices on E-bay seem to vary too widely to be a good gauge.
I would use retail as a high and trade-in as a low. Most folks wont pay retail unless it's for something rare or in high demand. Private party sales are usually less than dealer sales as well.
"You never see a motorcycle parked outside of a psychiatrists office"
depends if you're buying or selling...
retail if you're selling, trade-in if you're buying.

I also pick up the "Want Ad" and compare prices.

The rules of putting a motorcycle up for sale:
1) Any mods I did to the bike MUST at least double the value!
2) Scratches deduct $5 tops.
3) It is still WICKED FAST so it's probably worth as much as when I bought it.
4) It's so REALLY FAST that I better not let anyone ride it before they buy it.
5) No one will be able to get another (F4, Gixxer, etc..) within 1000 miles of here so I can just keep the price high and it will sell fast.
6) I only rode it 2000 miles in 4 years so I didn't need to change the oil, tires, brakes, etc.., so it's still just as good as new!
who woulda guessed ben held such bitterness?
heh.
