    motorcycles are dangerous

    Man killed loading motorcycle

AUBURN— A Lorna Drive man was killed Saturday when a motorcycle he was loading onto the back of his pickup truck fell on to him, police said.

Acting Police Chief Eileen Harrigan said the initial investigation into the death of Stephen M. Gleason, 54, of 28 Lorna Drive, indicated a Harley-Davidson motorcycle he was attempting to load onto the back of his Ford F-150 pickup truck shortly before noon fell off a plank he was using to put the motorcycle onto the back of the truck.

Acting Chief Harrigan said Mr. Gleason was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center — University Campus in Worcester, where he was pronounced dead. A telephone call made yesterday afternoon to the office of the state’s chief medical examiner was not returned.

Mr. Gleason was alone at the time of the accident and there were no witnesses, Acting Chief Harrigan said. Police are terming the fatality an accident and foul play is not suspected, Acting Chief Harrigan said.

Mr. Gleason also had a home in Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Acting Chief Harrigan said police believe that was where he was going Saturday when the fatal accident happened. The motorcycle weighed about 700 pounds, Acting Chief Harrigan said.

Patrolmen George Campbell and Eric Dyson are investigating.

    motorcycles are dangerous

Funny story to lighten things up a bit.

Back a few years ago I had picked up my zx6 from the dealer after a service. When I got it home in the back of my truck, I needed to un load it, not having proper ramps at the time I used what I had laying around. a piece of scrap board ( big mistake). Well when I got the bike 1/2 way off the truck the board snapped in half leaving the front wheel on the tail gate and the rear tire falling to the ground and me holding the handlebars balancing the bike. I think I pulled a couple muscles but the bike didn't fall over.
If I had simply let it roll off I would have certainly ripped the front fender off and probably dropped it on the ground.

It was the middle of the day and none of my neighbors were around. It took me a good 1/2 hour or better to balance the the bike and lift up a scrap of the wood with my foot high enough to be able to grab it and get it under the wheel with out letting go of the bike completely . Only now instead of a 6 ft piece I only had a 3 ft piece which made for a really steep ramp. So I get the bike safely to the ground and stop to catch my breath when not even 30 seconds later around from the front of the house steps 2 men in black suites, wanting to talk to me about the lord. I said where were you guys a minute ago. No I don't want any of your literature, go bug someone else , I'm kinda busy here.

My ex was a jw ...

She was the worst bigot I ever met ... bar none!

Getting rid of them is easy.
Just tell them politely to put you on their "Do not do" list.

Of course there are other ways to get rid of them but I won't go there!

We had another vist from them when we moved into our new house a couple years ago, we were busy un packing and such, just as my wife was turning down the free literature I said sure we'll take that I need something to get the fire started with tonight. The lady took her stuff and left with a discusted look on her face.

Its a free country, by all means do what you want but don't force it on me.
I have my own religon, motorcycles! I am a very devoted member of the church of 2 wheels. We meet every weekend sometimes even during the week, and we have a great sense of membership and belonging.

Yes, there is something to be said about being aware of your mortality riding a bike does make you closer to him. Plus seeing, feeling and smelling the nature that surrounds you making you wonder how it all comes together so nicely.

You know, I think you are on to something.
I want to be a member of that same church you are talking about.

Does riding Deals Gap provide a good baptismal ceremony?

Perhaps you have all misunderstood me. I am NOT a religous man. My parents brought me up catholic and now I am recovering from that. I went along with what they believed in until I was old eonugh to make up my own mind and form my own opinions . If its a sense of comunity you are after you don't need to enter into a church of the lord to get it. Motorcycles are my religon and it has nothing to do with a " higher power" or a lord of any kind. I worship and celebrate the motorcycle and the life style that goes along with it. There is a great sence of comunity amoung the "motorcycle family".

As for a " church of motorcycles" it happens every time you ride , think of it as self prayer if you ride by your self and a " mass" if you ride with a group. for lack of a better way to relate it.

I was being vey anti god when I said I worship bikes,, Remember I also said its a free country, so don't judge me for not being a spiritually religous person.

    Big suprise!

If we are not already in hell, we are in big trouble!

Besides lets just say for a second that the "bible" is really non fiction. I seem to remember a part in there that this mythical creature, we'll call him "god" is all forgiving. No matter what.
So lets just say that I am wrong at the end of it all and he really does exist, I'm all set.

I used to believe that one had to be religious to be close to God.

Found out that is not true.

Spirituality is my relationship with God ... as I understand him.
Religion is a way for some people to achieve spirituality.

Like you, I am a recovering Catholic if there is such a thing and don't want to ever have a damn thing to do with them for as long as I live. My ex wife is a JW and I certainly don't want any thing to do with them either .. don't think they want anything to do with me.

I have looked into a couple of different churches, studied with some American Indian Medicine men, did sweats, went on a fast and finally came to the conclusion that there is something out there and I don't need religion to be connected to IT.

Learned not to judge people and accept them for who they are.
Learned to not hang on to things too hard as the harder I hang on, the more that it hurts.
Most importantly, I learned to give with no strings attached.
Lots of really nice things have happened to me as a result of that.

So, othersean, I respect you as you are.
I was joking about the motorcycle church ... but hey I have seen cults start with less

And you are very right about one thing, I have seen more of a sense of community among motorcyclists than with many congregations.

As one motorcyclist meeting another on the road ... *the wave*

You may be on to something, lets start a motorcycle cult. We could call it the Hell's Riders or something like that. But instead of a church we could have a club house.
