    Motoworx in West Hatfield MA

    Good people, good work?

    https://motoworxmx.com/

I need to rebuild the shock on my new-to-me DR650, the shock has been upgraded with Race Tech internals, now leaking, and Motoworx is an authorized Race Tech Service Center.

I used them last year for total rebuild and set up on my 2006 ktm 625 smc.
    Stellar work and communication.
Sending him forks/shock shortly for another rebuild on different bike.

Thanks. I'll give them a call today.

Front and rear are sprung for a heavier rider, so I'll most likely get the forks to them, too.

Just FYI, Cogent Dynamics www.motocd.com is pretty much the go-to for DR650 suspension upgrades/advice. The owner Rick owns a few DR’a and is hugely active on the DR forums.

I’ve got one of his shocks waiting to go on mine, and a set of his DDC’s is on the list for this winters projects.

Matt -- thanks. I've been reading about Cogent on DR Riders forum and the ProCycle site. Depends on what my shock needs, if just a seal, oil, and re-charge, I'm guessing it wouldn't set me back too much. And I'm thinking a lighter spring. I think it currently has the Race Tech shock shaft assembly with gold valve.

Gonna look into it and ponder ...

I had him redo my rear shock on my kdx250. Seemed to do a good job.

    Update --

Rob rebuilt my rear shock, quick turnaround and reasonable price, all good all around. He re-shimmed it for my weight and fixed some DIY hacking done by a PO when installing the RaceTech shock rod. I got the shock back on the bike, turned the bike around, lifted the front, pulled off the fork legs which I brought to him today to check out. Per the PO, bike has RaceTech emulators, so I asked Rob to inspect, verify, service.

In the meantime, I replaced the linkage bearings (one was rusted, the others OK), greased the swing arm bearings. Now with the front end off, I found the steering races starting to notch, so I replaced them, too.

They’re probably the shortest seat height of all the >250cc dualsports.
Probably at least 2” lower than the DRZ or XR650L.
I’m 5’8, 30” inseam and can manage it fine, i want to say tiptoes both feet (mine is in sumo mode now so i can’t say exactly)

Same here, 30" inseam. I stand on the left peg to get on the bike.

^^ Thanks. I tried to hit the highlights, spared you of all the step-by-step pics.

Rob from MOTOWORX just called, he's finished up with my forks, all looked good inside, like pretty fresh, bushings all good, etc. So I'd say it's going all right for me with a used dual sport that has seen some hard woods riding, just that one rusted bearing, the notched steering races, and the leaking shock -- all fixed now. Rob confirmed that the forks do have Race Tech emulators. He said the springs are close enough for the way i will use the bike, in other words, he didn't try to sell me something that might give me just a slight improvement, after all #irideslow

Mild weather coming up means I can get the garage door open, let the sun shine in, and get the bike back together.
