when i recieved my card for doing the beginners msf class i just stuck the thing in my wallet. bringing it out a year and a half later i noticed that the "ridercoach signature & ID" line is blank. So I guess i am bored enough to ask if it makes a difference whether its filled out or not In all seriousness i would think the least they could do for a day of telling me no wheelies or barrel rolls would be sign the damn card.

So no....you don't need to have it signed. My insurance company never even asked for my card...they just asked if I took the course..

You should be able to contact the school with the date that you took the class and they can give you a new one. Yes, you should have it signed as most insurance companies will require you to provide proof of completion of the course and that is all you have. Keep in mind that somewhere down the line you could change insurance companies and you will need it again to get your discount. After a certain number of years (depending on the school) they will no longer be able to replace your card or give you proof of completion, therefore I instruct my student to put it or a copy of it in a safe place...not your wallet

You need to send a copy of it to your insurance company for the safe rider discount.

If you are a military/dod/govt employee and want to ride your bike you must have taken the MSF and carry the card at all times along with your registration.

yup had this happen to us,

a quick call to the instructor sorted it out and both alicia and I got our discounts...

but if it is not signed it is technically invalid.

at least from what i was told from our ins. co when we took the course and submitted our cards for discount....
