    MV Agusta Brutale 910R

Here is the new (to me!) bike. Its a 2007 Brutale 910R with almost 5k miles...Its got an Arrow Thunder exhaust and a Powercommander that I think needs a custom dyno session...Pilot Race tires which the sidewalls a WAY too soft and they seem to squirm all over the place on the street. I have already purchased Ducati Monster S4R handelbars, new barend weights and CRG Lanesplitter mirrors and need to install those. The Ducati bars are about 2 inches lower than the stock Brutale bars. I also bought clear lenses and amber bulbs for the stock turn signals, which I am putting back on the bike.

Hmmm. Seems the 06 910S (yours) came with either the 50 or 55 according to the tech sheet at mvagustausa.com and the 07 910R (mine) came only with the 55. Odd.

    Heres the 06 910S

If money is an issue buy the 50's but I'd go for a set of 55's

sweet. i've always liked the Brutale; i really dig those rotors also. as for which size rear, it shouldn't really 'need' one or the other; it's just a matter of how you like the turn-in to feel. the 55 should feel a bit steeper and drop into turns a little easier, but may feel a bit less stable to some. on my R1 i've been running 190/50, but am putting on a 55 next to see how i like it.

    Re: MV Agusta Brutale 910R

    50 versus 55

The 55 will have a steeper angle to the tread profile.
In other words it lends itself to a smaller contact patch when upright, but will turn in easier and quicker to a corner.
A 50 series will have a wider contact patch when upright and be more stable when upright.

Most bikes can take both. 50 series were most common several years ago and 55 have become more common.

Many bikes came with a 50 series including my 2007 Ducati 1098.

Most people choosing 50 series are commuting, ride alot of hiway and/or do not do track days on those same tires.

If you really have race tires (or dot race) on it now, then they are squirming because you can't get enough heat into them. A common misconception.
The reality is that race compound tires are less sticky than good street tires at street temperatures and speeds.
Get some good street tires and keep those for the track.

Whatever the reason, the Pilot Race blow for the street. My plan is to get a set of orig Pilot Powers or maybe CT2's.

Either way, Im enjoying the bike. Not having to break my neck, back and wrists while riding is kinda cool!

Beautiful bike! Wonder if MV will bring the new, less expensive 920 to the US...The reviews were terrific. Why put the Monster bars if you like the current comfy position? 2" lower is a very big difference. Granted, I think the 696 has a very comfortable riding position.

    Re: MV Agusta Brutale 910R

There are guys over at mvagusta.net who are not pleased with the 920...

As far as the Ducati bars...its actually not an uncommon modification with the Brutale. But my reason is that I went from a pretty extreme riding position with the clip ons to the stock Brutale bars as felt like I was leaning back too far...lol. So, a little drop should be perfect. Besides, to sit on a Monster or Streetfighter, those are much lower bar position than the Brutale. (Mostly when Im hard on the gas, I think being a little lower will help keep the front wheel planted a bit more...maybe)

Def grab those Pirelli's from Ted...gotta stick with Italian products ;D. But really, if you are looking for long wear and performance for the street, get a set of Pirelli Angel ST's. Crazy awesome tire for the street!

I want one of these bikes wicked bad too! Sweet pick up, its gorgeous!
