Re: MV Agusta F3 800 triple

Rsw81, I believe what youre saying and I believe your friend. My experience has been the opposite. The reason I give a shit to even attempt to tell you or anyone is Ive seen on a few forums people saying MVs arent reliable etc. Horseshit. Ive had both F4's and a Brutale. All ran quite well and had zero issues.

I think what perpetuates the unreliable myth is the fact that dealer support in the US is terrible and parts availability from Italy has been crap. The machines themselves are reliable, and honestly my 2nd F4 & my Brutale I rode them HARD, wrung their neck so to speak. While I didnt like the feel of the upright naked (Brutale) they were both amazing machines.

I think there might be 30 dealers in the entire US. And like I said, parts support has been less than stellar. But thankfully I never needed much other than oilfilters. TLRMan and I worked on my 2nd F4 together, synched the throttle bodies and while removing the tank we broke a fuel valve. We went over to Eastern Cycle, which was the dealer at the time and they had one in stock. MV's replacement was stainless steel, whereas the orig part was plastic. So I was happy about that. That was the only part I needed and it was somthing I broke.

After my personal experience with the MV's Ive had, I would not hesitate for a second to buy another.

Conversely, I had a GSXR that was a friggin nightmare. And a Yamaha dirtbike that I wanted to toss off a cliff...

As we all know, any machine, any brand has good and bad. It just erks me to see people bash MV, most of the time unjustified.

I found out about the bike a couple weeks back. I totally would sell my GSXR 750 and use the money towards that bad boy!

Pardon my ignorance. How many times the price of a Japanese sportbike are these?

Maybe a couple thousand more than a japanese bike. Not that drastic a difference in price, but lightyears better in my estimation...

Better at getting my juices flowing.....as far as on paper, they are approx equal in performance, but subjectivly I think an MV or Duc or Aprilia, etc. is far and away a much cooler machine.

    Hey John,
What are your thoughts on this model, the Rivale? http://www.mvagusta.it/en/rivale/rivale-800
Seems like a more aggressive looking Brutale with slightly less aggressive steering angle. I kind of like the look of it, but would still prefer a Brutale over it.

Re: MV Agusta F3 800 triple

Yeah Rob, the Rivale is awesome looking. I will test ride one when they hit the dealership... I didnt really love the Brutale I had, couldnt jive with the upright riding position and Im assuming the Rivale will be similar, however it looks to be quite fun...

My MV has been bullet proof and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another MV if I ever trade mine in. Wont be for a F3 though. Getting to old for supersports, my back and wrists cant take it
Rivale is more Hypermotard like in ergonomics I imagine and would be worth a look.

Yea this month's middleweight shootout in SportRider did not have great things to say about the MV, while the new Daytona 675R was beast mode through and through....

Id take the F3 and go Ohlins all around, Brembo monoblocks and BST carbon wheels....tell me thats not hot.

I would be able to deal with the quirky fueling and electronics...

As a side note....Kent Kunitsugu and company over at SportRider hate Ducati and MV, but they all have a raging boner for Triumph. That magazine is the same regurgitated bullshit each and every month....Once my free subscription ends, I wont be renewing...
