Talking Got nabbed on my way into work by John Baker (Belmont Police)

Normally I'm pretty good about keeping things legal, but I just haven't had the time to get my bike inspected yet. I've had it for about a month and have been waiting to get a plate light for it and new tires (which should both be here by the end of the week) before I take it in for inspection.

Anyways, I was heading down Trapello Rd. and pass by a Belmont cop as he's about to get on his motorcycle parked on the side of the road. I knew if anyone would notice that I didn't have an inspection sticker, it would be this guy.. or another bike cop. Sure enough he spots me right away and gets by a couple cars to get to me.

I tell him that I pretty much suck and have nothing but weak excuses for not having the bike inspected yet. He was totally cool and was just doing his job.. gave me a written warning and even told me of a place close by to get it inspected (GBM).

This was my first time getting pulled over on the bike and also first time dealing with a bike cop. Anyone else have any stories with the two wheeled fuzz? Good, bad?

That's cool that he was pleasant to deal with, and only gave you a warning. I should probably find out when NH inspections are due by...

The majority of bike cops are pretty cool to deal with...as long as you dont give them an attitude...

I'm pretty sure that they are due by the end of June for NH. I just got back from getting mine done in Plaistow.

I was going through the big dig tunnel southbound one weekday morning and was laying on the gas while whipping around a corner. I heard "whooooop!!!!" and I thought I am all done. I back down, and then a MSP bike comes by with the guy pointing to his speedo. I figure he could have given me a $250 tune-up, I don't speed through that tunnel anymore

Something similar happened to me in a car once, but worse. Was doing about 80 on 128 south in Waltham. A car pulls up next to me and then kinda pulls back like he wants to race me or something. Being 21 (stupid) in a new Camaro convertible, I hit the gas and got up to around 110 (thank goodness the car had a governor and topped out at 115 before the engine would cut). The other car is going way too fast for the piece of crap it looked like and before I know it, it's in front of me and blue lights are flashing front and back! He laid back before I could move out of the fast lane and I looked over and the cop just wagged his index finger "no no" at me, sped up again, and drove away while I'm sitting there with my jaw open in shock! I swear this actually happened - I think he had fun racing my car!!! Now I pay more attention to who's coming up behind me on the highway - all I had to do was really look at the guy and the car to see it was a cop - what an idiot! The cops had a lot of fun with that car - my SDIP step was 24 before it was gone and I had to go to driving school or lose my license

Haven't been pulled over in years - thought I was gonna get it the other day when I blew by a cop on the bike, but I had a cage on my ass too and he didn't come after either of us

I passed a Bedford, MA bike cop last week and I wasn't sure if I should do the wave or not - he waved at me so that answered that First time I ever had a cop wave at me and didn't get a ticket or warning to go with it.

My only experience with bike cops is the fact that I've been in Bike Cop Training all week long

Kinda like a week long experienced MSF course with blue lights and sirens

I've always wondered about waving to cops...I haven't passed that many on bikes, either. Do you all wave to cops on bikes?

Yeah, I wasn't sure if it would be like distracting them on the job so I wasn't going to do it, but then he waved so I guess it must be ok

Sorry I haven't checked this in a bit...

ok... nope they don't teach us to lay em down... dunno where that started...

    I work in metrowest

and unfortunately "riding gear" in copland consists of half helmets and knee high boots... I've been trying to get our department to allow us to wear a Cy-Max or something similar... Chief is actually condsidering it as long as they look professional etc... better then nothing!

Vanson makes a nice leather jacket in solid and mesh... it allows your duty belt to attach to the jacket... of course it's $450 or so... no way my department would cover that... however I'm sure we could wear them if we wanted to buy them...
