Why would you buy a new toy and then let someone else play on it first? That really sucks, hope it shines up like new.

    NEVER AGAIN....

He hit the brakes and wash the front, or what?

Still sucks. Hopefully getting it back in one piece isnt too bad, and fairly quick. I'd be itching to ride that thing all over hell and back.

    NEVER AGAIN....

Wow that sucks... sorry to hear that.

I had something similar happen to me too... I had just finished fixing up my old 6R, and I let a buddy take it for a spin... he got about 3 feet and dropped it.

Cracked up half the bike that I had just fixed.

I know it sucks that it gets damaged when its that new but I want to offer a different perspective. He is obviously a pretty good friend if you let him ride it that new. Be glad he is ok! Bikes can be repaired or replaced. Now you just don't have to worry about it as much.

    NEVER AGAIN....

If my friend is a mature adult, with a good paying job, and there is evidence of him accepting responsibility for his own actions in his life. I would let him ride my bike.

I would still have him state that he will be careful and would fix anything he breaks before he rides it though.. and most importantly NOT hurt himself. I love to share my bike with friends and can't count how many times I've lent my bike out to a limited number of people. Nothing has ever happened... but if it did, I know they would have fixed it.

If you hold on to your posession too tightly... its going to rule over you. I know... because I was like that when I was in my 20's.

A young person that has not learned acceptance of responsibility, and does not yet have a stable paying job... I would not let ride my new motorcycle. Simple as that.

I dont see it as holding on too tight. I see it as, this is my possession and I paid for it, if anyone is going to f it up it will be me. Plus I dont want to be without a bike during nice summer weather because my friend hit some dirt

I agree completely! I have let my close friends ride my bike many times knowing that they would accept responsibility if something was to happen. It is the same if I was to ride their bike as well.

I probably would too, but this person would never ask to ride my bike

    NEVER AGAIN....

Man that sucks expecially in the beginning of the season.

My rule with my bike is if someone wants to ride it they can, but if it comes back with even the slightest scratch, the person who damaged it is paying for the repairs 100%!!!

    That totally blows!

I'm pretty nice about letting people try my bike but only if they have a bike that I get to ride at the same time.

Dealing with this issue is even worse when it's family.

There is a very select few people that I will ride my bike. Many of the people on this board I would trust to, but I have people ask me all the time at school and I say fuck you.

I was the first person to ride my friends bike home from the dealership because he didn't have his license yet, its fun to put the first 20 miles on a bike.

Most on this board i would let ride my bike. Many I would and hace let crash it. I do know if I ask them to repair it they would fix it to as good or better than when they got on it. If i loan someone my bike, I have already decided that i'm ok with them crashing it. I would not let morons/squids ride my bike for fear of them doing something stupid and hurting themselves or crashing due to their on idiocitiy.
