Newbie and new bike first mod, 09 ZX6R

Silly mod but I won't need to remove the front seat to charge my battery anymore. I ran some wires from the battery to the rear seat which can be pop open with a key but not the front, required unscrewing 2 bolts, to much work. Wired are tuck away clean after the pictures were taken. What do you think?

Good job bud, but they make wires for that you know......really cheap and less work. Did you use electrical tape?

nice mod, what're you covering the exposed wires with after you're done with it?

Btw, if removing the seat is a pain in the ass, you should try this mod found over at the ZX6R forum

Oh I had no idea they sell wires for that. I just had some wires sitting around from an old HID kit from my car. So I used them.

That's actually can be considered. But right now this works fine. After done charging, I just roll the wires and put them under the rear seat.

This wire you just put the cover on the end when not in use. and of course most chargers have that connection already so its easy to hook up.

That kit pictured comes with a purchase of a $35 Battery Tender Pro.

You could just buy that wiring kit for like $7, but then the end plug would be useless for you.

I cut/ spliced an end connection from NAPA that perfectly fit the Battery Tender one. So therefore my NAPA battery tender has the end of the Battery Tender brand. Also I bought one of the battery tender "female" pieces so I can plug in a phone charger or GPS. Works wonders.

Maybe its just the pictures, but those wires look pretty dinky to be charging the battery.

Just curious why you feel you need to charge the battery?

I do by all means understand some people keep their bikes on tenders all the time but, is it really necessary? If you are riding the bike a couple times a week I don't see a need for it. Even one good ride a week should be more than enough during the warmer months.

I do it because of paranoia. I do not want to have a dead battery at the worst time. Plus I do not want to buy a new battery right now.

I actually think the same way, the only time my bike is on a tender is if it's sitting for > 1 month

I need them because I am rich and have 3 bikes so each one sits 2-3 weeks.between usage.

My dealer puts them on the bikes before delivery. Use the one from my tender on the lawn tractor and swap back and forth all winter. Wait there was no winter and I never had to charge the bike!

I love the green, good color choice. Any more mods down the pipeline I hear those shocker stickers are all the rage
