Another newbie question

I will drain my coolant this weekend...it has water + water wetter in it.....
Can I just drain it and not fill it up with antifreeze since I am not using it till spring? My concern is leaving it empty might promote rust.

Yeah I would not leave it dry - definitely not a wise idea. I would fill it 50/50 prestone or peak for the winter so it does not freeze and let the engine run until it reaches temp to make sure the thermostat opens and it circulates fully.
