    Trackday/Race Boots

Searching for new boots for the track. The glue holding together the soles on my 13yo Sidi Vortice decided it had enough.

Sure, I can glue it or have them repaired... but they've been down a few times and the zipper has been getting progressively worse. Rather put my mind at ease and my money towards some new kicks.

Do I stick with Sidi? Try out Supertech R? Maybe TCX RT-Race or some Formas?

Thoughts? Preferences? Follow my heart? Thanks!

I've liked my Forma Ice Flows, they're not sneakers but I do tend to stay in them for most of the day and can still feel my toes afterwards. Been through a few crashes in them over the years, no foot issues to date.

I owned a pair of TCX race boots (can't remember the model) and a pair of Supertechs. The TCX's were good but the Supertechs were clearly better imo.

Looks like Forma just released the Phantom Flow. No reviews yet though...

I'm on either my second or third pair of Supertech R's... absolutely love em.

And I BETTER for how much they cost but pricing seems to be on par with other top of the line boots.

Got 'em from Seacoast. Same place I've gone for all of my helmet, glove & boot needs for the past 5-8 years.

Another vote for Supertech R's. As a racer you need something that protects yet delivers feedback through the pegs. This FEEL of the bike through the sole of these boots is one of the best features. Its felt on the first ride. There is no break in. Quite frankly these are bedroom slippers with sliders and ankle bracing. Compared to other boots I have had (Sidi's), these are all day comfortable. Also the airflow is outstanding compared to other boots. I got the vented and love them. Rain day's and colder weather I wore wool Darn Tough socks and my feet feel great. I've crashed with them and have never had any issues. The sole of the boot wears fast due to their soft grippy rubber and the woodcraft pegs being toothed like a shark. This can wear through fast for riders that race and do a lot of track days on after market pegs. For those riding street bikes it's not an issue as the boots grip comes in handy.

One thing about the Supertech R, make sure you can try them on for sizing. The A* stuff seems to be off sizing wise compared to other brands. I’m a size 10 shoe, 10 in SiDi, 10 in the big G, but my supertech R, tech 8 and tech 10 boots are all size 9… with a little room to spare.

True that. I'm about the same. Generally buy size 9.5-10 but my A* boots are 9 (well, Euro 43, which are a 9 on their conversion chart, but I feel is prob more like a size 9.25?)

    Re: Trackday/Race Boots

I love my supertech Rs I had a massive highside in them and no bones broken or bruised despite the slamdown. Then I had a foot caught under the bike and ground down for a significant time. Again, no injuries. THe zipper did just break due to being dragged. But that was extra hard treatment. I find the ankle and heal protection superior, comfort and breathability superior. and there are no external parts to snag on your rearsets.

I believe that's referred to as 9 Royale, in euro speak....
