just a little heads up the police were sitting on lower thames today pointing aside every bike with after market exhaust. i know its going to rain tomorrow but they may be out next weekend too. they just gave me and my buddy a warning.

all, they pulled over a harley right after me and my friend. they're looking for DOT stickers on exhaust because everything without one is illegal

Wow what is the world coming too??? Realistically I think that all they are trying to do is scare people a little bit. I mean seriously are they going to eventually ticket every bike with an aftermarket exhaust that lacks a DOT tag? Seems like a scare tactic too me, but if they trully crack down then god help us all...

its confusing i ride a lot in newport and ive ridden in front of/behind an next to a lot of cops and they have never pulled me over even when i go out around midnight

ya one of the kids in my MSF class said they are ...difficult... to riders in Newport. when i get rid of my permit, ima paint my exhaust black and just rev the engine right next to them... see what they think about my stock exhaust.

one cop in narragansett does the same thing, but only to sport bikes.

thanks for the heads up... i was going to go there next weekend too to ride down Ocean Drive and see what roads i can find on that island. guess i will make sure to take some one licensed with me

ocean drive is about the only road worthy of riding on the island and half the time its just frustrating because its packed with tourists going 15-20mph. ive been going over to CT lately

yea i been playing around the boarder or RI and CT, but thats only because i dont have too much time to ride with work and school and a daughter. hoping to get some full day riders once class is over

sucks, but there isnt much riding to do down there anyway. Probably a direct result of aholes reving their bikes up and down the main strip

just a quick Newport bridge FYI for non-locals no more tokens, EZpass or $4 each way, previously was $1 per token or $2 cash each way. Heading down to trade in my leftover tokens for an EZ pass sometime this week, bridge authority extended the "token trade in" program till 5/15, $.91 per token toward the EZpass purchase.

Thats lame, I'm not sure where the DOT stamp is on my ZX6 stock exhaust. I wonder if the Akra that i was going to buy has a stamp or not... Pigs in newport suck, that whole town... sucks.

What would be illegal about stamping, etching, or marking whatever you want on a bike you own? Would this really be a crime?
