I wear a helmet 99% of the time.... and call me a stupid squid but I do enjoy having the choice. Every once in a while, sure I'll swing up to the store or something on a hot day and not wear it... oh well. I can understand how many people who don't wear them will if theres a law in place but the harley people wear those stupid cereal bowls, and half the squids won't even buckle the thing. Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.
just my .02
and PS.... for those who don't know... I'm well aware of how important they are and what its like to crash a motorcycle. For a while it was kinda my thing.

how come some of you think it is the end of america as we know it if someone from the government tells you to put on a helmet for street riding but you don't think anything of it when they say it at the track? Did you call the ref a communist when he told you you had to wear one in high school football?
Shit, who wants to pay my VT helmet law violation? grrrrrr

KAWASAKI RULES WOOOOO!
As we get closer and closer to being blind sided into very close to communist type of government, you know, you have to where a helmet,or you'll be fined ,you have to have health insurance or you'll be fined, you can't have a after market pipe on your cycle or you'll be fined , you can't speed or you'll be fined, you can't piss on that tree or you'll be fined, and in Mass you have to have a license to carry that gun or you'll go to jail and that is one our rights the rights to bare arms . If we are not carefull and wake up there isn't going to be any freedoms left. They will slowly control it all![]()
many a biker have been ruined by a wife and a full time job
This is fundamentally why I think helmet laws are OK. Driving is not a right, it's a privilege. You don't own the roads. Any time you drive on public roads the government has the right to regulate your behavior.
Now.. If they passed a helmet law where you had to wear a helmet driving on your own roads that you built yourself on your own property, then I think there might be an issue.

Yeah but this is a really mushy line. What if I my daughter falls down the stairs, I take her to the emergency room, but she's waiting behind five motorcyclists with head injuries and she dies?
What if a motorcyclist hits a small pothole, falls, and has massive head trauma (due to no helmet) and sues the state?
Wearing a helmet makes a lot of practical sense, and I've noticed that most motorcyclists don't wear helmets in states without helmet laws. The only issue is whether the state has the right to regulate this behavior, and I believe they do, much like the track owner has the right to require you to wear helmet plus leathers plus anything else they ask you to wear.

Funny, most riders I run into in NH wear helmets. The ones I don't, or are wearing soup bowls, are usually riding cruisers.
I don't believe in regulating common sense. A nanny state never stops writing new laws to cover every stupid thing people can possibly do. If given a chance, people who know what's best for you, will regulate every minute of your life. After all, your to dumb to know what's best for you. Hell, motorcycles are dangerous and not necessary. Just outlaw them. Require drivers to wear helmets and Nomex suits until the government controlled cars come out.
I have quite a few dangerous and dumb hobbies and things I like to do. I don't want Nosey Nancy the Safety Nazi deciding what I can do.
Plus, I firmly believe in population control and self cleaning of the gene pool.

NH is a American state. Massachusetts is a socialist run by hippies on beacon hill kenndy country welfare ghetto shithole.

I liked the original law that said under 18 had to wear them, just like seatbelts. why should my personal safety be enforced upon me?
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

Do you have any idea how dangerous cup cakes are?!
How many people have choked on a cupcake this week alone?
How many people are stuffing their faces with cupcakes right this moment? Adding to the list of victims of diseases associated to obesity?
You are terrible man. How could you like cupcakes?
I'm calling my rep! Cupcakes must go! Get them out of our schools and houses! Oh what have we done to our children!
I think this needs to be set straight before people start choosing coverage based on this. I work in an agency in CT and this is how it works. Should be the same for most states.
On your auto or motorcycle policy lets say your limits are as follows:
Bodily Injury Limits: 100k per person/300k per accident/100k property damage
Uninsured/Underinsured Limits: 100k per person/300k per accident
Medical Payments: 10k
Comp and Collision ded. of $500
If you get in an accident that is your fault (i.e. you are riding your bike and smash into the rear end of a stopped car). There is damage to both the bike and the car. Both you and the driver are hurt.
-Your BODILY INJURY LIMITS of 100/300 will cover OTHER PERSONS WHO ARE INJURED.
-Your PROPERTY DAMAGE OF 100K will cover the OTHER PERSONS VEHICLE DAMAGE.
-Your MEDICAL PAYMENTS will cover YOU, THE INSURED, before your health insurance kicks in. If you have Medical Payments on your policy it will always come first before your health insurance.
-If you have COLLISION, that will cover your bikes damages. You will be responsible for the deductible.
Bodily Injury Limits do NOT cover the insured of the policy.
If somebody rear ended you and you were hurt and they didn't have enough coverage to pay your medical bills your Uninsured Motorist would kick in after theirs was maxed out.
