There is a real race scene for pocketbikes in New England. There are riders of all ages racing them. There have even been confirmed reports of adult riders coming from NHIS to race pocketbikes at Sugarhill Speedway. It's a cheap way to get your knee dragging fix. There are some of you keeping secrets. There are some world class pocketbike racers in Englishtown NJ. They are riding bikes that power wheelie like a moto GP bike. Adult races just don't talk about them outside the track because the crackheads who buy a cheap CAG and ride around in traffic have given them a bad rep.
PB's are like fat chicks........
This one will power wheelie at any given time up to 25-30mphOriginally posted by Fast_Eddie

When I first got mine I raced a few times at Pinnacle Raceway in Mass, it is a fun and very cheap way to go racing for sure. You'd be surprised how serious these guys take this sport and there are even National events for PB racing in this country.
The picture of the little girl in the above picture has been around for a while and i remember reading a article about the whole family. Those kids starting racing at a very young age, it was around 5 or 6 if my memory serves me?

Nice GRC, you should bring it up to SugarHill on the 17th. The president of Area 51 pocketbikes races the same one.
i have a buddy that runs the pocketbike thing on the west coast, they race Vegas and the Bondurant kart track in Phoenix. they go like 70-80mpfh!

Is that Brad? I think he had a yellow GRC GP back when we ran at Pinnacle? I thought area51 was all done and someone made another new england based organization?Originally posted by Fast_Eddie

That'd be cool if they got back into racing, seems he and his wife put a lot of effort into it at the time
I've got plans for that weekend already so I can't make it but it sure would be cool to go check out some racing again, when will the next event be? Anything still at Pinnacle?

I think Brad is gone from Area 51. Gary Chafee of New Hampton NH is the new president.
There are on average 10 riders in CAG class and 6 or 7 in production. Our production class has been expanded to include bikes between 6~12HP until open class size becomes large enough. With the current group of 100lb. riders on 6HP and 200lb. riders with 10~12HP it works well. Some weeks we have upto 18 riders in CAG class. The CAG class in NH is currently on the mellow side with good clean racing with most riders between 20~50 year old riders and 2 or 3 kids who ride well. Production has the full range from fast rider to not so fast riders.
The 17th is our last scheduled race of this year but we have been given a rain date from last rainout. I'll post the date when they tell us.
Pinnacle did not race this year due to "personality conflicts" which I'll not comment on. A new person will approach them about a couple of PB trackdays next season.
Sugar hill will run every other week next year as the off weeks are scheduled for XR mini motards. The Area 51 Pocketbike club are a friendly group who welcome new riders and give lots of help and encouragement. Most of the new riders are not new but rather ex-riders of other types of bikes who like the idea of buying a bike and racing a full season for less than the price of a few full size Dunlops.
I was hoping Ftrain was going to say more about small racetracks but I'm not going push him. There are a few guys who would be happy to pay a few bucks for some good practice sessions.
