Nice little SM ride this morning.

I wasn't expecting a nice day after listening to the thunderstorms and high winds all night, but the sun was out and it was already 50 when i got up this morning. I had some errands to run and figured I'd take the bike. I was sure the roads would be a mess so the R1 would stay in and the SuperMoto would come out. Of course the 15 minute ride to where i needed to be turned into and hour each way on some scenic gravel and bumpy paved roads. The gravel roads were pretty slick with a thin layer of mud, but still sorta fun.
Hit some of my favorite local roads, was out on the bike at 8am and back home by 10:30am.

Just a 3 pictures from one stop.

    Barden Reservoir

Barden Reservoir dam...was ripping pretty good from the 3" of rain that fell last night

sweet...I love that you take out the supermoto on slightly messier days and leave the R1 at home...nice change of pace in the riding style

the first reservoir picture came out pretty good too!

supermoto tires on gravel roads intrigue me a little...I can't imagine standing up, leaning back, and staying heavy on the throttle with such smooth tires...I'm guessing you're seated for that part?

It's not to often I stand while road riding a SuperMoto, unless I'm on a real shitty road/trail or sometimes to give my ass a rest from the seat.
Good throttle control and foot out in the corners are the key IMO for gravel roads and smoothie tires. It's amazing how much traction they actually have.

They are not DOT tires, they are Michelin pregrooved SM slicks. Only reason I'm using them is the rims came off my YZ450 (trackday bike) that was sold in the spring

This was only my third ride on the road with them and all three times were less than ideal conditions..also 50% gravel roads. So far, no issues, but also not pushing it at all other than kicking the rear out a bit in the corners on the gravel roads. I don't see them lasting that long though as the rubber is very soft and sticky.
