It sure is more comfie but id didn't seem ta have the bottom end like my RR. It beeing so freakin cold-n-all I didn't roll it on too much. Maybe that's one of the trade offs I'll have to deal with.

    Comments? Mods?

Well it is down on power to weight compared to the RR.

I agree the bottom end seems soft, I think it seems softer than the SV I had.

I bet you can/could tune the bottom end to be stronger and/or more violent, but I think Honda did it that way on purpose, it makes the bike more confidence inspiring in bad weather. Nice for touring, and also makes the bike easier to deal with in traffic IMO.

What year VFR? I got a Power Commander for my '00, made my own map, and smoothed the bottom end out considerably, while adding a few HP.

I've heard of something refered to as 'the flapperbox' mod, as well as unplugging the O2 sensors, helping with some of the '03's lowend smoothness, but wouldn't really help with power much. Try looking on www.vfrdiscussion.com

    I used to read vfrdiscussion.com a lot.

Definitely doesn't seem like any of the mods work reliably for anyone. There were always people doing, "I did the flapper, it's awesome".

Then 2 weeks later they'd say they put the flapper back in and things got better.

Same thing for 02 Sensor eliminators, the power commander, etc.. lots of people putting them in and saying it was good and then taking them off and saying it was better without, disagreements between people in different climates, etc..

I think the ECU on the VFR is a bit more complex than most due to the 2008 Emissions stuff. After hearing the complaints I am really guessing it works best in our moderate climate and maybe it doesn't work as well if you live in a hot dry climate like Texas or Arizona or something.

Not like other bikes like say an RC-51 where it seems like everyone who tries a PC-III says emphatically that it is way better with it.

    I agree with you Ben....
I belong to that discussion group
    and the contradictions are plentiful
Although i only have 300 miles on my '03 VFR
I have no problems with low end, then again
I am coming from a '96fzr600, so anything would have been an improvement. I plan doing the Flapper mod after break in, simply because it adds a little more growl to the noise level of the intake/exhaust. I am not interested in aftermarket exhaust, so it sounds like it's right up my alley.
