Thumbs down Oh No - I Dropped His GSXR!

I am so pissed at myself, much moreso than when I dropped my Ninja last year. My husband's been riding for about a week now and took me to the Sun parking lot to start riding the GSXR again today. I felt really rusty and nervous. I went around the lot twice and came back to talk with him for a minute (he was sitting in my truck). Well, I went to take off again, let the clutch out too fast, stalled the bike, and was on the ground before I knew it! He took it really well and told me to get back up on it so I did, rode around the lot for awhile, and then I rode it home and all went well. I told him I would pay for any damage and he said not to worry about it. The turn signal popped out but he said he can pop it back in and the fairing and pipe got a little scratched up. Man, complacency can really get you! He's not mad at all, but I feel so terrible - it was the last thing I wanted to do so Murphy's Law had to jump in of course!!! Darn, it's only April too...if I'm going to keep riding, I may have to bite the bullet and just buy the 600...Hope everyone else has done better than I have getting back on their rides this spring!

Ooooo - lousy way to start the riding season... If he won't let you pay for the parts - Take him out for a great meal...

Ah that does suck. You always feel worse dropping someone elses bike, at least its still rideable and sounds like just cosmetic damage.

Unlucky On the bright side by the way its described its not a huge deal. Just a few scuffs. Pretty easy to fix. Beats dropping it at speed and really damaging things on it. Besides you might have done him a favor. Now he has an excuse to get some flush mount blinkers

Im sure if I had a wife and she dropped my bike in front of me like you did it wouldnt be a big deal. Shit happens and he was letting you ride it. Im sure hes just happy you didnt get hurt. Now if you just took it out some day and dropped it things might be different.

I remember when I was little I let one of my friends ride my bike and he drove it off a 10 foot wall. As upset as I was about it I was just happy he didnt get hurt.

Couldn't stop laughing when I read that Yeah, fortunately I've gotten good at falling off and I didn't even feel it with all the gear on. I'm so afraid to ride it now, afraid because it is scary at slow speeds and I can't flatfoot on this bike like with the Ninja. If the bike falls left, I'm fine, but if it goes to the right, I'm toast. I was paranoid at every stop sign that I was going to do it again all the way home. I did stall it once more in the parking lot, but anticipated it this time and didn't fall. I just can't imagine ever dropping his bike again so I may have to get my own again if I'm going to keep riding...Yeah, I'm a super lucky gal to have such a great husband - he took it all in stride and said the bike was older now (an 04) so he didn't care and he said he's almost dropped it a few times himself. Thank goodness it wasn't brand new! I think he will fix the blinker himself and leave the scratches.

dont let not being able to flat foot stop you. At 5'6 I cant flat foot on many bikes at all. Im on the tips of my toes on my rc. Its a little nerve racking at first but youll get used to it.

when i was a kid, i was sitting on my dad's GS650 making vroom vroom noises. i ended up tipping the bike over.. man i felt like shit. i offered to give him whatever was in my piggy bank but he refused. thing is, don't worry about it too much. there are things to get upset over, none of which are material.

apparently you are not going to be a star on your G-S-X-R.....just kidding. Most of us have scratched/dropped our bikes somehow. At least you are not hurt. That does suck though.

I know you don't have a wife, that's why I said it (because it says absolutely nothing KWIM?)...hehe I am sure your GF would whip my ass - I was diddy on my two-fiddy, but definitely not a star on the GSXR! I'm definitely not experienced enough to be on the GSXR and the bike knew that and bitch-slapped me for being on it. I told my husband last night that I'm going to leave his bike alone. I'll get my own if I'm going to keep riding, but it's looking more and more like we're going to be starting a family soon and I'll wait until at least after I'm through pregnancy before I get another bike - just can't justify buying one if I won't be able to ride for at least 9 months anyway...sometimes I think I should have just kept my two-fiddy...

    SNAP THAT!

I'm not pregnant now BTW! That would REALLY suck to fall off while pregnant! I really love riding though and it sucks to have to stop for any period of time after just learning last year - problem is that I didn't learn to ride when I was 21 - I'm 32 and the clock is ticking!

just remember--when you do get prego,be very careful because any accident you have you might just get hurt but you're risking the baby's life!
+ 32 is a good age to start squirtin them puppies out!!!

I know, all of my higher risk activities will be donewith, but I'm ok with that, which is one of the primary reasons I know I'm ready for that now. 32 is good - there is such a huge difference between being in your 20s and 30s - my husband and I used to say "no kids" when we were in our early 20s but that changed dramatically after hitting 30!
