    Oil and filters?

What kind of filter, and what kind of oil do you use? Riding or racing? How long do you wait to switch to full synthetic?

..and thank you for your cooperation.

    Oil and filters?

I use the Scotts filter. I hope it is better.
I use Valvoline Racing oil. My bike is too old for synthetic I think.

    Oil and filters?

I'm still using Kawasaki filters because I got a bunch of them very cheap when I bought my bike. Around 2500 miles, I switched to full synthetic (3rd oil change) Mobil 1 10-40. The bike absolutely loves it. Shifts smoother, starts easier, runs smoother, etc., etc. My next oil change will be with Motul E-Tech 100 in 10-40 weight.

    Oil and filters?

think i ended up w/a fram filter it's all the had at Kirkers on Rte 1 (DON'T GO THERE FOR FILTERS & OIL!)

for oil i threw in some Spectra Gold Semi-Synth. i'll probably use that again but this time i'll buy it elsewhere since the filter & 5gt's ended up costing me like 45 bucks

    Oil and filters?

I use the factory filter and oil and change it every 3000 miles. The filter may be a few more bucks than a non OEM, but I am only using 2 or 3 of them a year. The cost difference to me is insignificant. As for the oil, it gets changed before it truely has a chance to breakdown, and I am only street riding so it doesn't see the abuse of racing. I know Honda car oil is just re-bottled Texaco and Havoline (depending on weight). Who makes their motorcycle oil?

    Oil and filters?

Oil is Oil, filters are filters, don't matter what you use.... if your bike doesn't shift smoother when you change your oil no matter what you use, then the oil wasn't dirty yet

regular oil and filter changes.. using recomended viscosity is all that counts

whether you pay a dealer or do it yourself, unless your time is not worth anything cleaning a scotts filter and making a mess costs more than a throw away

So you dont find that the cheap oil filters restrict oil flow any on your race bike?

No, most of the work on my race bike is done by yours truly, plus gixxer6.

However, I will say Gordon did a lot of work repairing and prepping my bike the morning I cut the cast off my right hand from a severe crash the day before. He did a good job, I did a good job. That gave our team a Championship.

The motor is turning fast enough to pump more oil than you've ever seen. Long and short chains being sheared, along with friction material from the clutch plates is a racer's biggest worry. Not flow dynamics.

    Good question though.

I've only had one brand new bike. I was a sissy when I bought the 929 because it was so much power so it got an easy break in. The 600RR has about 2000 on it so I think that's been taken care of.

    oem filter

    change annually moldi one 15-50

when she's is being a bad girl she
can piss out a qt in a 100 miles

so she changes her own oil at least a qt every 300.

ALways did this and even after freshed motor new rings valve seals etc. Looking at pcv this winter may eliminate

    Oil and filters?

Scotts Filter on the 600rr, OEM on my wife's F4i.

I used regular dino oil during break-in (300 and 1,000 miles), switched to semi-synthetic at 3,000 miles and now have full-synthetic in the bikes.

Post break-in, I usually change the oil every 2500 miles or so, more often if I've been to the track a couple times.
