So what do you do for work? school? The amount of freetime you have has alot to do what kinda bike you should be starting off on too.

im doing engineering desing at mass bay im transferring to umass lowell for civil engineering. I do web design(own my own company very small) and i have a coop with turner construction as an engineer. i have lots of free time because work is usally flexible

RockStar, I haven't been on the board for THAT long, but I think that alot of people on here are older folks who mostly have their stuff together. You must make decent money at your job - how else would you be able to afford a nice car and consider buying a nice Duc? Log on when you're at home and not at work if it's an issue.

Kawasaki Ninja's range from 250 to 1400 cc's....250 and 500 are good beginner bikes. Altho I would not recommend a 250 for a guy...it's a girl's bike...lol

Im a newb myself, and I believe any bike can kill you. The 17HP CB250's you learn on at the MSF could kill you. When I was 19, there's no way I would have ridden a bigger bike responsibly.

With that said, Im 26, and got a 600 as a first bike. I still have a little demon on my shoulder telling me to do crazy shit, but I've learned to ignore him.

Take the free R6, take the MSF class, buy some good gear, and be safe.

Seriously, I think the only thing keeping you "sane" on that bike is because...well....you're not supposed to ride it just yet...LOL You're a good rider John, definitly more "mellow" than I am...but that will change with time....lol

Seriously if you work with the people on this board you will get more useful information than you can ever use.
Take the R6, store it learn to ride on and old POS and then enjoy the sport bike. Most riders wreck in the first year, once you get past that you have a better chance not messing it up. Like everyone else said "buy gear" dont let the squids talk you out of it. As 1/2 Squid says" better to sweat than bleed"
