    Onboard cameras

Who's got em? Which ones are best?

I am looking for on so that I can remember my racing days when I get old and senile like Beet in a couple years.

    Post up.

I've been eyeballing that GoPro camera. Seems to be the best bang for video quality vs price.

    Re: Onboard cameras

Actually, I've got one of these. It's a great camera for short money. It comes with multiple, secure mountings systems. And the thing takes a beating like a champ.

I was actually thinking of offering a group buy on them if we can get enough folks interested.

Ok so do you have to carry a recorder in a backpack for these or are they all inclusive?

    Re: Onboard cameras

i put the recorder in the trunk of the bike. power is hard wired to the battery.
i charge the recorder, keep the tail off the bike until about a race and 1/2 before mine. ill put the recorder in and turn it on. put the bike back together and get dressed. i reach under the tail and push the start button and go. it comes with a remote and a wired remote "start" button but the camera needs to have a remote input to use that. the recorder is small. 3x5x1. if i leave it on the battery will last for almost 3 sessions at a trackday...including garage time. it takes a regular SD card.

Doc. The one I posted is self contained and water proof. And under $200.

I filled a 2 gig card (about an hour of record time) on one set of batteries a few weeks ago.

I'm broke, so I went with a canon SD1000 on a C-shaped sheet metal from home depot, a bolt, and a wing nut to tighten the camera against

the C-shaped sheet metal is bolted between the mirror mounts

video quality is good enough for google video:

I've also used a $20 one-time-use CVS camcorder (hacked and downloaded to my computer of course), a binder clip, and same said sheet metal

video quality is also good enough for google video, but the sound quality sort of sucks:

I would probably go for a group buy. I've been watching ebay for these.

I got 3 of the gopros. Good stuff. Here is a youtube downsampled clip.

I regularly output it direct to DVD and it looks pretty good for what it is and what it costs.
