    Oooo LOOK! another oil thread

i havent had to mix gas with oil in some time. and when i did it was leaded sunoco 110 octane and Torco for my goped.
i looked through my catalogs at work and it seems that parts unlimited doesnt carry torco. so now i dont know whats good and what sucks. generally i would say oil is oil and whatever i get will be fine. i even looked through my owners manual to see what KTM recommended but didnt see anything right away but ill keep looking.

so as with any oil thread ill ask "what do you guys use?" and then watch you all bicker like old ladies.

    commence!

Used Mogul synthetic in my 300 exc mixed around 45:1. Never fouled a plug in 8 years, and it looked great when I tore it apart.

At 50:1, still running my original plug, minimal spooge out the tailpipe. More like residue than spooge.

I'm running BelRay H1R at 40:1 in my WReck. I've heard a few different people running 50:1, may try it, but for now even though I smoke a bit more I like the comfort value of knowing there is plenty of oil around the crank and piston.

i agree. ill take smoke fro the peace of mind. i ran my goped at about 28:1 but the torco oil is smokeless and it did a good job of it too. i need to search the owners manual some more. otherwise im gonna run 32:1

The standard for the 300 is 50:1. So Todd's 45:1 should give to the extra piece of mind.

Re: Oooo LOOK! another oil thread

I ran 32:1 Spectro because I'm extra slippery like that. I'd say you can run the 45:1 or 50:1 without worry. They all know what is the best ratios to use so just follow what the bike MFG says. If you are concerned, just go a little richer.

I run Spectro or Suzuki branded 2 smoke mix. Only the latter cause it was cheap and I bought 4 quarts of it. Works great in everything that goes RING A DING DING DING DING in my garage.

If you richen the fuel oil mix don't you lean the air fuel ratio, iirc? If so just remember to jet properly if experimenting with premix ratios.

KTM recommends Motorex, which is what I'm currently using in my KTM 250sx. I've used Maxima as well.

Re: Oooo LOOK! another oil thread

I'd be curious to know what my bike originally called for, although that'd be based on 20 year old oil tech so really not all that applicable now a days anyways. Belray says 40:1 for their H1R on machines larger than 125cc so that's what I used as a starting point.

BITS: Yup, more oil with no carb changes results in a leaner mix.

Amsoil Interceptor (trail) or Dominator (track) here. 44:1. Interceptor has a lower flash point so better for slow woods plunkin'.

jetting and power valve maintenance are an important part of the equation. silencer packing too.

Re: Oooo LOOK! another oil thread

When I first got my KTM, I used Motul 800 2T at 60:1
I switched to Golden Spectro and still run it at 60:1.
With both oils, I still get some goop out the pipe..even at 60:1...but I blame that on myself for riding slow and having trails that don't often let you get out of second gear. Never fouled a plug..in fact, my bad, I have never even changed the plug yet

We tried many oils in our 200hp. V6 two stroke outboard, because you go through gallons of the stuff. We entually bought nothing but Yamalube. We added Ring Free or Techron due to the relatively poor fuels available.

The 2S grade is sold at Yamaha marine, West Marine, and Yamaha Motorsports dealers.

    WHAT?!? 28:1???

I'm about to start riding my goped... (I know... a little late) Does that thing really need that much oil? I was about to run it at 50:1
