    Opinions on Parkway Cycles Sales

A friends boyfriend, is dealing with Parkway Cycles and from what I have heard so far, it doesn't sound to good.

He is a first time buyer and is looking at a 2005 R6, price 8K with 2K miles on it.

They are trying to sell him a 900$ helmet and a 300$ jacket at the same time.
Some type of Theft insurance and a maintaince program for tires and engine stuff.

A few years ago I heard from an inside source about parkway and to stay away from them.

    Any opinions?

I am sure others will chime in on this but here is my $0.02

Some people have a good experience there, I did, some people have horrible experiences there, I have many friends who this is the case.

If your friend does not feel as though he is being treated right, my suggestion would be for him/her to go to Plaistow Powersports in Plaistow NH. It is a bit of a drive but the people there take care of their customers.

I know that Plaistow is a part of the same family of dealerships that contains Parkway, as are Greater Boston Motorsports, Cycles 128 and Hillcrest Chevrolet, but they have a different way of doing things up there. Their GM takes a different approach to the business then their other store GMs. Have him/her give them a shot and see if they are better for him/her.

Your friend should def go to other dealerships and see if he can get a better deal elsewhere. When I bought my new bike I ended up going to 3 different dealers and I made each one of them work for my business.

I ended up buying from South Shore Motorsports in Quincy. My experience with them has been excellent. Everytime I walk in there for whatever, they remember my first name and they remember the bike that I bought. I brought my bike in once for a minor issue I was having and one of the sales guys went across the street to get some coffee for some people and he ended up getting me one while I was waiting.

Every now and then i'll order parts through them if they are cheaper then online sites. One time as I was walking up to the parts department desk they went in back and got my parts for me. I didnt even have to say my name or anything.

I've never experienced that kind of treatment anywhere, and no I don't have any affiliation with them.

I've had excellent interactions with everyone at SSMS, but I know some people who've had bad. Plus they have a really hot accounting/financial chick that works there. SXlover knows what I'm talking about!!!!

Bettencourts is good but I've had some issues with their service department.

Brockton Cycle is awesome for gear but I would rather shoot myself in the foot then buy a bike from them. I was there a couple months ago for a stunt show they hosted. One of the kids on the floor comes up to me when I was walking through and was like "What can I do to get your money?" No lie. Then i overheard one of the sales guys trying to convince a kid to buy a 1000cc bike for a starter bike. I was like holy shit.

I've only been to Greater Boston Motorsports once. I don't have anything good or bad to say about them at this point.

    FYI:

Andreana (spelling?) aka finance girl left SSM last week, as did Dana (parts manager, she is now mngr at Riverside moto).

Badboybilly not sure who your salesman was but Mark (Cats is still there ; good guy), Ral (now in parts dept ; knows his dirt stuff), Mike (laid off ; will be working for Riverside moto possibly).

Mark at South Shore Motorsports is a good salesguy. I know him from like 15 years ago when my dad was his soccer coach.

I still go to Bettencourt's for most of my stuff.

Brockton Cycles took a slide since the Veracka's sold it.

    Parkway Cycles... ugh.

    I thought parkway blew.

If he is looking for an R6 there is an '06 on the board for sale for 6700. Sounds like a better deal to me.

Parkway sucks,...i went to them a few times bacause there so close to me i could walk there...anyway they double charged my credit card for a jacket $148.00. I went back a few weeks later when my charge bill came in and i noticed the charge. They insisted i bought 2 jacket's. I almost shit...like i would buy two of the same jacket. They never refunded my money and said the proof was on my end and they would see me in small claims. Two months later i found out from a kid Pete who worked there that a guy named Joe was fired for double charging people and removing the cash from the register. Go figure right. Well i aproached them on it and they said they would take care of me. I placed an order for a pair of boots and they credited the $148.00 to the boots. An hour after placing the order i changed my mind on the boots and wanted to order another pair. They said no way to late,...what...i say they couldn't have possably have shipped yet and they said they had'nt but ounce the order is placed thats it. So i had to get the boots. That place is the worst for customer service, they have rotten attitudes in there too. Its like they think there better than everyone. I over heard one of the sales men calling this guy an idiot because he didn't know what kind of helmet to get...the kid was a first time rider and didn't have enough info on the matter and he told them so. Instead of helping him to understand they made him feel like an ass. Fuck that place stay far away.

I have had VERY good experience with Plaistow Powersports.

Decent deals and you are treated like a customer ... meaning your input counts.

MOM's in Manchester doublecharged my CC also, they did fix it when I
confronted them but dealing with them on a customer service level really
    sucked.

As for that woman in the Parts department at Plaistow Powersports ... ummmm
I will bite my tongue for now and see if those two above me get castrated first.

Then I am going to laugh my ass off! :
