Noice. Who did you buy it from? Naults seemed to be the only dealer to stock them.

Lemme close the deal, then I'll be on with the dets.

Although I found several at dealers 'round here. 3A Motorsports in Chemlsford had one, actually I think he said he still had another one in a crate out back too. Plaistow Motorsports had one. Freedom Motorcycle in Concord had one. There's a guy (dealer) out of Sanford Maine advertising a decent shake on one. They are in shockingly decent supply.

Ironically I never made it to Naults. They're hours never worked out for me. Was gonna go Sunday, but they were closed.

Reading up on tie-down tips so I don't be that guy. Mass is a PITA and so I'll definitely have to trailer it home.

Camp out?! Sadly I blew it all on the bike (and then some) so panniers and the like are out for this year. So unless I can pack enough in my old back pack and sorry-ass tank bag, I'm probably out.

Wouldn't mind a day-ride with some beginner dirt though. Never done that.

Do think I'm going to try to make mzdagrl's noobie group ride this weekend though. Hopefully I get the machine learneded by Sunday.

The folks in Concord are going to have that one forever. Naults gave us a much better deal.

    What he said.

You can put a bunch of stuff in a roll-up waterproof bag or Army duffle bag and secure it across the luggage rack.

    Re: Opinions on V-Stroms

Dragged it home today. So far all seems well. My town tax collector argued with me, insisted I wait until July to register it. She insists it'll save me a few bucks if I get a temp plate for the time being until then. I like my town tax collector. I feel dirty just saying that, but I do.

So I now have a temp plate for it.

Bike is not new. It is a 2011, but was bought and then sold/traded back to the dealer after just 3 months and 2800 miles. Bike has crash bars on it, I believe they are Givi. Also has some various other 'farkle' on it, including some sort of GPS mount above the gauge cluster. Couple dings and dents that I'd probably have done by now if it were mine since new anyway.

Supposedly the warranty is transferable, meaning I have ~9 mo of factory warranty left.

Deal was not exceptional, but it was decent. Bike is 9x cleaner than any other v-strom I've looked at on the used market in the last ~2 months. Amazing how people beat the shit out of these things. But then I guess they are half designed to go off road.

My only fear at this point is that I bought someone elses headache. But screw it, lifes short, lets get on with it.

Suzuki warranties are transferable and you can even buy the extended warranty anytime before the original one expires.

Nice bike and nice car! I am assuming that it is like 85% of the sportswagons and is a TDI... ;-)

Thanks, I like it. But no actually. Gas, 2.0L, turbo. 6MT as well. SEL package offered in '09 and promptly discontinued. Like 0.00001% of the wagons, by my count. Missus liked this more than the GTI. I didn't argue.

    Tows just fine.

Took the 'strom out for her maiden roll 'round town (and then some) under my command. I'm keeping it.

Needs bags tho. May have to invest in a tank or tail bag by week's end just to make commuting work.

May want to spray paint over the Weeks Dairy logo. That way it doesn't look blatantly stolen.

Just pre ran my VT Strom Adventure 750 in 2 days. Cut short because of rain comming. 60 miles of dirt roads and over most gaps.

On real world poorly paved roads easily as fast as sport bikes, all day comfort, goes when the pavement ends

Put my 2nd tank of fuel into my new bike this AM. Staggering cost of $16 after ~260 miles of travel. Math works out to 61 MPG, bringing my average up to 58!

This thing is insanely good on the gas!

They are great on gas until you push them. I rented a BMW F800ST and my friend a DL650 in the Alps last summer. We pretty much averaged the same tank range out of both bikes, mind you the BMW has a 16 liter tank and the DL a 22 liter tank. We both would get about 250 km out of a tank of hard mountain-pass riding. All in all, my friend was very pleasantly surprised of how the DL handled and rode. He was coming off an older VFR.

Enjoy your ride! I was considering the DL but got an FZ6 instead 3 years ago. It fit my shorter stature better (5'8") 8-)

    Re: Opinions on V-Stroms

Honestly, I think the DL was a wise choice for me because I really have no idea what you mean by "until you push them". I have not been easy on the thing so far. I leave traffic lights with haste. I do what I consider my fair share of carving. I have found red-line on the tach.

Unless New England suddenly sprouts 14k foot passes, I do not expect my mileage to change much.

Maybe if I ever try my hand at riding this thing off-pavement.
